East Carolina University Student Transit Authority

East Carolina University Student Transit Authority (ECUSTA) is the chief transportation service for East Carolina University. It began operation in 1969 and was at one time completely student ran. ECUSTA now has several full time positions that were hired from within. ECUSTA also runs Safe Ride, a late night transportation service for students not located on a bus route. ECUSTA has an airport shuttle service to Pitt-Greenville Airport and has a special event charter bus service.
The bus routes are based at five hubs: Christenbury Gym, Downtown, Joyner Library, Mendenhall and Speight Building. The 27 routes stop in 109 places. The total length of all routes is over 145 miles. The annual ridership is over 2.5 million. ECUSTA is one of the largest transit systems in North Carolina.
Routes
The ECUSTA currently has 27 routes. Four routes are on-campus routes. Ten routes are apartment-to-campus routes. Two routes are commuter parking lot routes. Three routes are night drop-off routes. Eight routes are late-night service routes.
On-campus routes
*302 Red - Connects main campus from Mendenhall/West End Dining Hall to the Health Sciences Building and Brody School of Medicine
*303 Blue - Connects main campus to several shopping, dining and entertainment venues
*304 North Loop - Circulates around main campus through each of our bus hubs with a stop at First Street Place.
*305 South Loop - Circulates around main campus, College Hill and Curry Court.
*850 Pirate Ride - Circulates around main campus, College Hill and Curry Court at night.
Apartment-to-campus routes
*401 Purple - Serves the 10th Street corridor between campus and Greenville Boulevard, including Campus Pointe and other apartments on Greenville Boulevard
*402 Brown - Serves apartments between 5th Street and the Tar River
*501 Pirates Cove - Provides express service to Pirates Cove apartments
*502 University Manor - Provides express service to University Manor apartments
*503 Sunchase - Provides express service to Sunchase apartments
*504 The Landing - Provides express service to The Landing apartments
*505 North Campus Crossing - Provides express service to North Campus Crossing apartments
*506 University Suites - Provides express service to University Suites apartments
*507 Copper Beech - Provides express service to Copper Beech townhomes
*508 The Bellamy - Provides express service to The Bellamy apartments

*610 Minges Park & Ride - Serves the commuter parking lots by Minges Coliseum and Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium
*305 South Loop - Circulates around main campus, College Hill and Curry Court through two bus hubs.
