Sheffield to Hull Line

The Sheffield to Hull line is a railway line in northern England. It runs from Sheffield north east to Hull Paragon via Doncaster. Stopping services on the line are provided by Northern Rail, with many branching off to Adwick or Scunthorpe. Some stopping services continue through Hull on the Yorkshire Coast Line or through Sheffield from the Sheffield-Lincoln Line.
No fast services run the entire length of the line, although CrossCountry trains link Sheffield with Doncaster, as do occasional East Midlands Trains services, while First TransPennine Express operates the South TransPennine route linking Sheffield with Scunthorpe via Doncaster.
Northern Rail operate a semi fast service along the line, with most continuing on to Bridlington / Scarborough, calling at Sheffield, Meadowhall, Doncaster, Goole, Brough, Hull, most of these services also continue fast to Bridlington calling only at Cottingham, Beverley, Driffield and Bridlington.
In February 2013 a significant landslip from a coal slag heap at the Hatfield Colliery closed the line between Hatfield and Stainforth railway station and Thorne South/Thorne North with bus replacements between Goole and Doncaster plus Scunthorpe and Doncaster stations, the buses leave hourly. The route reopened on 8 July 2013 following the successful clearance of the mining spoil responsible & completion of major repairs to the trackbed, though only a limited service (1 train per hour each way) was initially in operation. A full timetable resumed on 29 July.
