I Joined a Teen-Age Sex Club

"I Joined a Teen-Age Sex Club" is a comic book story published in First Love Illustrated by Harvey Comics in 1951. A high school girl unwittingly joins a teen sex club but quickly drops out to pair with a morally decent young man. The tale was typical for its time though one critic thinks its title more provocative than most of the period.
Background
"I Joined a Teen-Age Sex Club" is a 5-page comic book story published in July 1951 by Harvey Comics in First Love Illustrated #13. Michelle Nolan, author of Love on the Racks, writes, "First Love #13 was an astounding contrast to many of the cleaner romance comics on the stands. There's a roll-in-the-hay cover, complete with the fellow's arms clinched just south of a blonde's large breasts. Inside were titles such as "Confessions of a Runaway" and "I Joined a Teen-Age Sex Club!"" She notes that the sex club story was typical of many stories of the Pre-Code period though "its title was racier than most." The story features pencils by Bob Powell, inks by Howard Nostrand, backgrounds by George Seifringer, and lettering by Martin Epp.
Plot
Geri, a young teenager new to Flyndale, attends high school but feels lonely. Hoping to make friends, she joins an off-campus club run by a few schoolmates. Little does she know the club's raison d'etre is sex. The boys ply her with drinks and she feels very uncomfortable. She falls in love with a teenage reporter working undercover to expose the club but he believes she has questionable morals and rejects her. Later, he learns she left the club immediately following his rejection. He then views her differently and drops her name from his newspaper story. The two become sweethearts.
