HYPE Innovation

HYPE Innovation is a multinational provider of software and services for innovation management and open innovation programs. The company’s headquarters are based in Bonn, Germany and they maintain offices in the US, Great Britain, Austria, and France.
History
HYPE was founded in 2001 by Enno Scholz, Frank Henningsen, and Boris Bokowski as a spin-off from Daimler Research & Technology.
Being a highly flexible process management tool, the software was sold to clients for diverse purposes, including quality report authoring and private equity contact management. However, a dramatic increase in requests from the innovation management sector, especially individual R&D departments of large corporations, soon lead to an adaption of the tool and its exclusive development towards innovation management. The first standardized version of the product was released in 2004 under the name HypeIMT (‘Hype Innovation Management Tool’).
Based on project experience and the development of the niche market for innovation management software, HYPE diversified its product range to better meet individual facets of the market and use cases of their clients.
In 2010, HYPE closed a multimillion-dollar growth financing round with the specialized private equity firm View Point Capital Partners.
