Hydration for Health Initiative

The Hydration for Health Initiative (H4HI) aims to raise the awareness of the need to establish healthy hydration as an integral part of a healthy diet & lifestyle.
Primary Features
Founded in 2009, its primary features are:
* A website that provides information and evidence to healthcare professionals and public health policy influencers on the role of healthy hydration in overall health and disease prevention. It contains downloadable patient advice materials, teaching slide kits, a publications library, and other tools useful to healthcare professionals. and cognitive performance. Drinking plenty of water is also generally considered to be important for maintenance of good urinary tract and kidney health. Indeed, there is evidence that being adequately hydrated can help prevent the formation of kidney stones. In terms of quality, the choice of liquid for healthy hydration is also important. The link between excessive and habitual consumption of sugar sweetened beverages (SSBs) and weight gain, obesity and type 2 diabetes is well established. Furthermore, excessive SSB consumption can also contribute to other conditions such as metabolic syndrome and tooth decay. Water is generally regarded as the healthiest way to hydrate, because it contains no calories, artificial ingredients or acids. Whilst most medical experts agree on the principles of healthy hydration, there is still a lack of recognition of its true benefits.
