Claude Jaffiol

Claude Jaffiol is a French medical professor at the Montpellier Medical CHU University, France who failed to board Air France Flight 447, which crashed en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.
After having spent many days in Brasilia for lecture and tourism, Jaffiol and his wife Aminda Ben Ouargha-Jaffiol decided to embark earlier than planned, but the flight was full.
Due to Jaffiol's wife's work in the major office of Montpellier, they tried to get Dutch consulate help from a contact known to the couple. However, the contact was unable to obtain seats for them. According to their own comments, the couple tried to "move Heaven and Earth" to get a seat.
When informed of the crash, the couple told journalists, "It's miraculous - we should have been on the plane".
Aminda Jaffiol said that she would be taking her return flight to France with a certain "apprehension."
