Holocaust education

The Holocaust was a traumatic event that occurred during World War II by Nazi Germany. The Nazis set out to kill all the people who were not of the ‘superior’ Aryan race. Most people have been educated about the Holocaust and know what happened to all the innocent people. However, many are surprised to hear that there are people in the world that do not believe the Holocaust ever took place. Some have seen the evidence given to prove the Holocaust actually occurred but “many Holocaust Deniers call Jews who bore witness to the tragedy and lived to tell their stories liars.” Some teachers in England and in the southern United States stopped teaching the Holocaust in 2007 to avoid offending the deniers and Muslim students.
The failure to educate people about the Holocaust is internationally important. One of the main reasons is so history does not repeat itself. The massive genocide of the Holocaust should have never have happened. If we educate people about it, we can prevent it from happening again. Another reason it is significant is because the failure to educate is not just here in the United States. The United Kingdom was also having issues in 2007 trying to decide whether or not to teach the Holocaust in schools and some professors didn’t want to teach it.
