Hollywood Blood

In 1924, the first blood donation center was created to supply Hollywood with blood for films. However, due to unexplainable reasons, real blood did not show up on camera. Directors searched for new substances to use instead of blood. They tried horse blood, pig blood, squirrel blood, shark blood, and other types of blood, but then they realized that all those substances were still blood. Vernon Quanks, a distinguished make-up artist of his time, suggested using something that wasn't blood, such as paint or thickened ketchup. Quanks was praised for his notable idea, and the film industry was never the same.

Blood centers closed for a good 20 years after Hollywood abandoned them, but then people caught wise and started using them to supply hospitals. Seriously.
