Hoima School of Nursing and Midwifery

Hoima School of Nursing and Midwifery (HSNM) is a public health training institution located in Hoima City, Western Uganda.
Location'
The school is located in Kahoora Division, Hoima Municipality, Hoima District, in Western Uganda, approximately 199.3 kilometers (123.8 miles) west of Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
History'
HSNM was established in June 2010 with the aim of responding to the need for qualified healthcare professionals in the region. It is the only government nursing and midwifery training institution in the Albertine Graben Region. It was founded with support from the Hoima District Local Government and the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, and later taken up by Uganda's Ministry of Education and Sports.
Academic Programs
HSNM offers programs in nursing and midwifery at both certificate and diploma levels. Admission is based on meeting specific academic requirements and annual cut-off points.
Student Population
As of 2025, the school reported an enrollment of over 1,000 students. In 2023, HSNM graduated 836 students with certificate and diploma programs in nursing and midwifery.<ref name":1" /><ref name":2" />
Community Engagement
HSNM participates in community transformation initiatives, including patriotism training to promote responsible citizenship and professional integrity among healthcare trainees.<ref name":1" /><ref name":3" />
