Hi-Fi Indios is a three-member pop/grunge/rock group from the Philippines that was formed in May 2006. The idea behind such name is to turn the term “Indio” from being a derogatory and disparaging label to a source of pride and class. Gerald Manabat (bass/vocals), Regie Tamayo (guitar/vocals) and Jamee Orcino (drums) draw their musical influences from The Police, Sting, Green Day, Extreme, and Dave Matthews Band to come up with their original compositions that mostly touch views on life, love and friendship. The band released its first album, , under Viva Records in October 2008. The carrier single, “Sa Iyo,” is currently hitting the air waves through major radio stations. The music video for the song is currently airing on music channels such as MYX and MTV. The group has appeared in television shows like Breakfast @ Studio 23, Umagang Kay Ganda (ABS-CBN 2), Sobrang Gud Nyt Show with Jojo A. (QTV-11, RJTV), Lyn Sherman Show (RJTV), Rock Republik (Flip TV), MYX Daily Top Ten and Star MYX. Gerald, Regie and Jamee have also participated in the San Miguel Beer (SMB) Oktoberfest of 2008: Kickoff Party on Ortigas Ave., Blue Wave Mall on Macapagal Road, Mall of Asia and at the Araneta Center, Cubao. They were also part of the World Bazaar held at the World Trade Center in Roxas Blvd. The band also graces mall shows and school concerts to promote their album. They have played in Tiendesitas, Eastwood City most of the SM Malls, Sta. Lucia East Mall, Malabon Citi Square and Ever Gotesco Morayta. Likewise, they have also performed in Notre Dame of Greater Manila, Immaculate Heart of Mary School and in UP Diliman. Hi-fi Indios continues to perform in regular and invitational gigs in at least 20 bars all over the Metro, from the members' home town in Valenzuela City to the cities of Malabon, Manila, Quezon City, Pasig City, San Juan and Makati City.
