Hapkido Boxing

Hapkido Boxing is a hybrid sport that combines Hapkido with Boxing. Hapkido Boxing means "the Way of harmonious spirit and co-ordination with power". Hapkido Boxing is relatively modern since its development began in India early 2008. The name Hapkido Boxing was coined by Mr. Raj Wagadkar; Hapkido Boxing is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques both standing and on the ground. Hapkido Boxing contains both long and close range fighting techniques, utilizing jumping kicks and percussive hand strikes at longer ranges and pressure point strikes, joint locks, or throw at closer fighting distances. Hapkido emphasizes circular motion, non-resisting movements, and control of the opponent.
Indian Yoga science to control body and mind through meditation and self control plays an integral part of Hapkido Boxing. The sport calls for agility, good lung capacity, muscular co-ordination, presence of mind and quick responses. Hapkido Boxing popular sport in the developing countries due to its simplicity, easy to comprehend rules and public appeal. Hapkido Boxing is a fast growing sport, with large followings in India and Asian countries, where most events take place. Several other Hapkido Boxing events have taken place around the world, including in Asia.
History
The hybrid sport was envisioned in 2008 by Mr Raj wagadkar and Hapkido Boxing was featured in his joint locks, techniques of other martial arts, as well as kicks, punches, and other striking attacks. There is also the use of traditional weapons, including a sword, rope, nunchaku, cane and short stick.

The first real event of chess-boxing was organized by Dutch artist Iepe Rubingh in 2003. Several other Hapkido Boxing events have taken place around the world, including in Asia.
Features
Its most prominent feature is its competitive element, where the object is to either throw , takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a grappling maneuver or force an opponent to submit by joint lack or by executing a strangle hold , choke, strikes and thrusts by hands and feet as well as weapons defenses . Originally promoted as a competition with the intention of finding the most effective martial arts for real unarmed combat situations.
Hapkido Boxing is supervised by a referee over a series of one- to three-minute intervals called rounds. The result is decided when an opponent is deemed incapable to continue by a referee, is disqualified for breaking a rule, resigns by tabbing hand or leg on mat or on any part of the body or is pronounced the winner or loser based on the judges' scorecards at the end of the contest.
Organization
The sport is governed by the Hapkido Boxing International Organization (HBIO).
Hapkido Boxing international organization was formed in India from former HBIO Members and is the largest international governing body of Hapkido Boxing.
Hapkido Boxing International Organization is world governing body for Hapkido Boxing. HBIO also known as world Hapkido Boxing Headquarter or Mother body for Hapkido Boxing. HBIO is the centre of Hapkido Boxing instructor education, being the home of the Hapkido Boxing and issues official membership to National Organization / Federation, issues instructor certificate and DAN certificate to members and students and conduct international seminars, World Championship, Continental Championship.
The HBIO is world Hapkido Boxing Headquarters. It serves as the sole registry and determination of certification for Dan and instructor, it is the HBIO which research, Designs, develops, and modifies curriculum for the student and instructor alike. HBIO conduct and assigns instructor seminar. HBIO decides what the requirements for promotion are, and if things such as YUDO interpretation are involved, the HBIO has the final say. The HBIO organizes the junior and senior world Hapkido Boxing Championships, which are held every two year.
