Grant Dunlop

Grant George 'Gigi' Dunlop (born 12 April 1986 in Bangor) is a football player who currently plays for Dundela and the Northern Irish national team as a flamboyant midfield playmaker.
Dunlop, the son of former Northern Ireland international goalkeeper George Dunlop, began playing football at the age of 3 in his parents' garden, quickly catching the eye of scouts at Linfield F.C.. He rose through the ranks at Linfield and the Northern Irish youth setup, where he played alongside current Rangers F.C. striker Kyle Lafferty, who Dunlop once poignantly described as "dead on" and "good crack".
Dunlop went on loan to boyhood heroes Bangor F.C. for the 2005-06 season, cementing his place as the pin-up of Irish football, selling more shirts and posters than any player in Irish League history. Despite his good looks and early promise, his on-pitch displays failed to live up to his huge reputation, and Dunlop found himself largely marginalised and a continual bench warmer.
After falling out of love with football, Dunlop moved to England to study at the University of Central Lancashire, where he excelled while studying Sports Studies at the prestigious educational institution. Dunlop has since disappeared from the professional football scene, now turning out for Dundela whilst working in youth sports coaching in his home town.
Following many years of soul-searching, Dunlop finally received an epiphany as to his true calling while he was out roaming through the woods of his home town looking for dead birds to poke with twigs. As he approached a clearing in the woods, he bumped into a 98 year old goldsmith who had been fashioning his shiny metallic wears for decades. After buying a fetching gold medallion from his new friend, the young Irishman realised that he was destined to study at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Dunlop is now studying for a PGCE in Primary teaching at the aforementioned institute of learning. It is a far cry from his days at the heady heights of UCLan, but Grant is doing his best to learn enough to fulfil his ambition of becoming an educator of future generations,
inspiring youngsters to think critically and philosophically about life.
