Graham Deakin

Graham Deakin (born on April 24 1987 in Birmingham, England) is a professional footballer currently playing with Redditch United in the Conference North, where he plays as a midfielder.

The Walsall youngster, described as a hard-working and tigerish midfielder, has joined Tamworth on a month-long loan deal as manager Mark Cooper worked against the clock to strengthen his sqauad before the transfer deadline at midnight on 31st August 2006.

The 19-year-old has come through the ranks to sign a professional contract during the summer and Saddlers' boss, Richard Money, sees the Tamworth 'attachment' as the next step in his development.

Saddlers boss Richard Money had this to say about the youngster:

"I think that every youngster needs to experience what it is like to play competitive football in a 'men's league'. A month in the Conference will be good for Graham and we will monitor his progress closely."

Deakin's performances for the Walsall youth team during 2004/05 saw him given an opportunity in the first-team squad's pre-season friendlies last summer but his progress was halted soon after by an injury that prevented him making an expected impact on the reserve team. He did gain a taste of competitive action with a work experience spell at local non-league outfit, Rushall Olympic.

He was given his first senior outing for The Saddlers when he went on as a substitute in an LDV Vans Trophy Southern Area semi-final game v Swansea City.
