Donal Greene

Donal Greene (born 13.02.1990 in Dundalk) is an Irish goalkeeper currently playing with IFA Carling Premiership club Newry City FC. He previously had three spells with Irish Premier Division club Dundalk FC between 2005 and 2010 and a short stint with current League of Ireland Premier Division Champions Bohemian FC.
He was initially signed for Dundalk FC in 2005 by then manager Jim Gannon. In 2006, Gannon brought Greene and Tiarnan Mulvenna on a week long trial to Stockport County following his appointment as manager.
In July 2006, Greene spent a week on trial with Reading FC and also made 4 appearances for the Ireland Under 17 team. 2006 ended on a sour note for Greene as a serious knee injury ruled him out of the game for 4 months.
Greene made his senior debut for Dundalk FC in February 2007 aged 16 against Derry City FC in a game which Dundalk won 4-0. He went on to feature a number of times during the 2007 season before signing for non league team Glenmuir FC. He returned to Dundalk FC in 2008 and went on to lead the Youth team to the FAI Youth Cup Final in May 2008. In June 2008 he signed for League of Ireland champions Bohemian FC.
In July 2009, Sean Connor re-signed Greene for Dundalk FC along with Scottish goalkeeper Peter Cherrie. He featured in friendlies against Ards FC and Athletico Madrid and in a number of league games towards the end of the 2009 season. He remained at Dundalk FC under Ian Foster until July 2010 when he signed a one year contract for Carling Premiership club Newry City FC.
Despite only playing a few games in the League of Ireland, Donal has expressed his views on the League: "the league in Ireland is badly run and there is no money in it, clubs are going bust."
