Jason Mellor

Jason Mellor (born 15 April 1989) is an English football player who plays for Bath City.
Football career
Jason Mellor started out as a promising junior playing both an attacking midfielder and as as a goalkeeper. Originally spotted by Bristol City at age 11, he was released and then spotted by a Bristol Rovers scout whilst playing as an outfield player. He was then invited to train at the Rovers Development Centre, where Rovers encouraged Mellor to concentrate full time on his goalkeeping. Mellor joined Nailsea Town FC at age 15 when the Rovers Development Centre closed; he became Nailsea Town 1st team keeper at 17 and team captain at 19.
Spotted whilst on loan at Toolstation League side Clevedon Utd, Mellor then signed for Clevedon Town F.C. making his debut against Stourport Swifts in August 2010.
Playing under former Bristol City legend, Micky Bell, Mellor rapidly established himself as first choice keeper and became captain in 2011, winning Player's Player & Manager's Player awards in his first season. The following season, he captained his side to two cup finals. The first final was the Red Insure Cup (Southern League Cup) against Banbury, Mellor lifted the Southern League Cup for the first time in the club's history after a 2-1 victory over higher ranked opposition.
Mellor then led his side out against Conference South side Weston super Mare in the final of the Somerset Premier Cup in May 2012 after beating League One side Yeovil Town in the quarter final. However, Bath City Manager Adie Britton had been watching the game, and in June 2012, offered Mellor a contract, making him Bath City's first new signing of the 2012-13 campaign.
