Gouri Chindarkar

Gouri Chindarkar was among the first group of children in India to participate in a Self-Organised Learning Environment ("Soles"), which have now become known as "School in the Cloud". She went to university despite not having a normal classroom based education.
Life
She was born in about 1996. Her home was in Shirgaon in the state of Maharashtra.
Her education was delivered in English but her native language was Marathi. She was placed in contact via the internet not with teachers but with mentors who inspired her curiosity. Her particular mentor was an American woman named Ann Thomas. Chindarkar would leave her house early so she could meet her at 6:30 in the morning. She had heard of computers before this form of education but she had never used one. When she contacted her mentor she might find that she was on a beach holiday.<ref name=":0" />
