Go2

go2 is a mobile local search and location-based service (LBS) <span lang"en" dir"ltr">owned</span> and operated by xAd, based in New York City. It is an exclusively mobile LBS, and can be accessed via mobile optimized websites and an iOS and Andoid application.
History
go2 was founded and launched by Lee Hancock in November, 1999 with over 300 Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) mobile websites and was the first company in the U.S. to provide mobile, local search results based on the location over a wide network of mobile phones, including Sprint, Cingular, Nextel, AT&T and Verizon. It was ranked No. 1 by The Yankee Group in September 2000 in its Wireless/Mobile Services Report entitled "Wireless Internet Content: Three-Click Analysis of Real Estate on the Handset" published in September 2000. In May, 2002, go2 and AT&T launched the world’s first mobile Location-Based Services application that used Automatic Location Identification (ALI) technologies mandated by the FCC. go2 users were able to use AT&T’s ALI to determine their location and search near that location to obtain a list of requested locations (stores, restaurants, etc.) ranked by proximity to the ALI provide by the AT&T wireless network. In 2007 go2 sold its mobile media business to Boston-based 80108 Media, backed by General Catalyst. 80108 Media changed its name to go2 Media and began operating all of go2’s websites and business from its offices in Boston, MA. go2 Media operated go2.com as a mobile entertainment guide that providing users with movie times, concert information, TV listings, local event listings and entertainment recommendations from the go2 national network of local editors. In 2011, go2's mobile media business was acquired by (http://xad.com), which currently operates go2's local search websites exclusively for mobile viewing. xAd also operates an iOS and Android downloadable, local search application.
