Ghulab A. Khan (born Gujranwala, Punjab, Pakistan, 1944) is the founder of Ghulab Khan Capital Partners (GKCP) one of the world’s leading venture capital firms based in Silicon Valley. His early childhood was spent in Pakistan with his schooling taking place in Switzerland at the Institut Le Rosey. He later attended Eton College and graduated with a First Class Honours degree from Trinity College, Cambridge University. He went on to earn a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard University, where he was a Baker Scholar. In spite of its low profile, GKCP has been tremendously successful with early investments in: Apple Computer, Cisco, eBay, Flextronics, Google, PayPal, Yahoo, and YouTube. GKCP has also been a Limited Partner in Silver Lake Partners, The Blackstone Group, The Carlyle Group, and Hellman & Friedman. It is believed that Ghulab Khan is the scion of one of the most powerful feudal landlord families of Pakistan. Paying homage to his family's heritage of ranching in rural Punjab, he owns a sprawling estate in Hillsborough, CA, where he raises cattle, sheep, and an assortment of other livestock. His success in investing in technology companies and other investments has garnered international media attention. His personal fortune is estimated by The Sunday Times' to be valued at over $3 billion. He is known to be extremely reclusive and has shunned media attention. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, two children, and two prized French poodles.
