LDS Test and Measurement

LDS Test & Measurement, a unit of SPX Corporation, is an international company focused on the physical test and measurement markets, and on product validations. LDS has been traditionally associated with vibration test systems, but with the acquisition of Dactron, Nicolet Technologies and Gould Instruments, they now also supply individual and fully integrated solutions for data acquisition and recording through simulation and test to analysis and reporting. LDS has two manufacturing sites and four R&D centers in Europe and the USA. LDS sells their solutions through direct sales offices or local agents in over 60 countries worldwide.

History

LDS, or Ling Dynamic Systems, was originally acquired by United Dominion Industries in the mid-90's. Not long after, this US/Canada based company was purchased by SPX Corporation, a Fortune 500 industrial enterprise located in Charleston, North Carolina.

With the financial backing of a large multinational corporation, LDS was able to roll out an aggressive plan for internal and external growth. As a first step, Ling Dynamic Systems established sales and service subsidiaries in the USA, France and Germany to better support its growing customer base in these important markets.

In May of 2001, LDS purchased Dactron Inc. for its experience in Vibration Controllers and Dynamic Signal Analysers. Both of these product categories directly complemented LDS' growing shaker business. By November of 2003, LDS acquired Gould-Nicolet, and after merging it with its test systems and signal analyser business changed their name to LDS Test and Measurement.

The company has experienced significant growth in the past five years as a result of these mergers. In fact, over 80% of their current instruments have been introduced during the past five years since the company became LDS Test and Measurement.

Products
Measurement Instruments
LDS aupplies high speed data acquisition systems and real time signal analysers. Their solutions are found in the R&D labs and test departments at various companies within the automotive, aerospace, machinery, electrical, and power markets as well as in research institutions.

Vibration Test Systems
LDS' vibration test systems are used in applications as diverse as satellite testing, structural analysis, squeak and rattle test, or package testing. LDS also sells training, support and service in addition to manufactured components.
