Georgi Lazov was a Bulgarian citizen who took a job as a truck driver in Iraq. He was kidnapped by Islamic extremists affiliated with Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi on July 8, 2004 near Mosul.
Lazov, 30, and a second Bulgarian hostage, Ivaylo Kepov, 32, were kidnapped as they were driving trucks loaded with used cars to Mosul. The beheaded bodies of Lazov and Kepov were found on the banks of the Tigris River on July 15 and July 22, respectively.
