Geniophobia is the irrational fear of chins. The origin of the word genio is Greek for chin or jaw and phobia is Greek for fear. Causes There are a few causes to acquire Geniophobia. One cause is a traumatic event, usually at a young age. Another possible cause is heretics and genetics. If a blood relative or relatives has or had Geniophobia it is possible for descendants to acquire Geniophobia. Symptoms There are about twleve symptoms that Geniophobia causes that scientists have observed so far: * Feeling of panic * Feeling of terror * Feeling of dread * Rapid heartbeat * Shortness of breath * Trembling * Anxiety * Dry mouth * Inability to articulate words or sentences * nausea * sweating * Extreme avoidance of looking at chins Treatments * Relaxation techniques-controlled breathing and visualization * Behavior therapy, or anti-anxiety medication * Psychotherapy * Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) * Behavioral therapy * Exposure therapy
