Garrett Meurs (born January 12, 1993) is a Canadian junior ice hockey player. He was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche of the in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Biography Meurs grew up on a farm in Ripley, Ontario. His parent's names are Jack and Tracy and he has two brothers named Jordan and Chase. Around age three he learned how to skate. He left his hometown to play Triple-A hockey. In his rookie season in the OHL Meurs scored 16 goals and 18 assist (altogether 34 points). In the following season he scored 10 goals and 31 assists (41 points). He was ranked 79th among draft eligible North American skaters. On June 25, 2011, Meurs was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche 123rd overall (2nd in the 5th round) at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
