Grant Tkachuk (born September 24, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the 9th round (169th overall) of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. Tkachuk played four seasons 1984 - 1988 of major junior hockey with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League, playing 264 games to register 123 goals, 125 assists, and 371 penalty minutes. On February 9, 1988, while playing with the Blades to open the newly constructed Saskatchewan Place, Tkachuk scored the first ever goal on Saskatchewan Place ice, beating Brandon Wheat Kings' goalie George Maneluk at 12:35 of the first period. Tkachuk turned professional with the 1988-89 Rochester Americans, playing 64 American Hockey League games in his rookie season. He spent the 1989-90 season with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the International Hockey League, where he skated in 72 contests, scoring 40 points.
