Garo Tavitjan Junior

Garo Tavitjan, Junior (born 1982) is a Macedonian musician. He was born in Skopje. He started playing drums and piano at early age, as his father, Garabet Tavitjan, is a professional drummer in the Balkans. He attended music school in Skopje and studied percussion and piano. He recorded and performed at numerous concerts organized within the Skopje music high school by its orchestra, jazz ensembles and pop bands. Tavitjan received a number of awards at percussion and drum competitions and festivals while he studied and had many solo performances at the "Days of Macedonian Music." After finishing music school, he received a fellowship from Berklee College in Boston, Massachusetts.
Tavitjan received the status "Independent Artist" from the ministry of Culture of Republic of Macedonia. He has performaed with Andrea Palazzo, James East, Rosen Vitro (Jazz Ambasadors), Morris Pleasure (Earth, Wind & Fire), Garabet Tavitjan, Vlatko Stefanovski, Diran Tavitjan, Vasil Hadzimanov, Teodosii Spassov, DadoTopic, Kaliopi, Karolina, Eva, Ron Savage, Larry Monroe, Marko Djordzevich, Dave Weckl and many more.
Since 1997, Tavitian has been an active member of the group Garo and Paramecium as a performer and co-producer and has recorded two albums. "A bre Makedonche" and "Paramecium Live." He has performed at a number of international festivals, including "Lucky Strike" in Belgrade-Sava Centar, with such jazz musicians such as Joe Zawinull, Chick Corea and Branford Marsallis.
As a composer, Tavitian is active in electronic and world music with his solo album "Urban Groove," and has collaborated with many pop stars. He is currently working as composer and performer, including with the jazz group the Tavitjan Brothers featuring his brother Diran Tavitjan (piano). They released their CD called Tavitjan Brothers Trio which was entered into an international jazz competition organized by Sony in London, UK. The Tavitjan Brothers were among 12 finalists who will have their tracks released on SONYJAZZ label.
He is composer of music for theathre performances.
