Racing Career
2012 & 2013
In 2012 & 2013 Garnet competed in the NSW State Formula Cars Championship. The FRCA is all about providing a competitive category for Formula style, open wheel racing chassis utilising Wings & Slicks. As the many formulae in motorsport continue to evolve, The Formula Race Car Association - and its CAMS NSW Motor Race Championship category - were formed to cater for open wheel racing cars that no longer have an opportunity to compete in their own championship events. The Formula Race Cars category allows flexibility, coping with modern demands, realistic budgets and the availability of spares. The FRCA is a fully affiliated CAMS motorsport club and is incorporated in Australia. In 2012 Garnet competed in an older Model Dallara F395, finishing 9th overall in the championship. At the start of 2013, Garnet Patterson Racing was formed with the team purchasing a Dallara F301 Speiss-Opel to compete in the championship. Garnet went on to win 16 out of the 19 races in the Championship, set 3 new lap records at Winton Motor Raceway, Wakefield Park & Sydney Motorsport Park and claimed the championship title by 161 points over his next closest rival.
