The Online Racing Association
|
The Online Racing Association, commonly referred to as as TORA, is the governing body for many Online motor racing championships and events. The main championships run by TORA are; The TORA GT Championship, The TORA GP Championship and The TORA Touring Car Championships (inc. PRO). A secondary function of TORA is that of a motorsport community, which thrives thanks to its vocal members via TORA's Official Forums. In addition, the Association also produces Podcasts, features, and video content via TORA TV. About the association TORA is a non profit organization who run online racing events and competitions, and provide a professional environment for of any age and skill level. Simulation racing games offer the graphics and physics to make you feel like you are racing a car. However TORA aims to replicate what these games cannot, life in a racing series, whether that be as a team manager choosing partners and sponsors or as a racing driver with the pressures of meeting targets and forming rivalries, by providing an interactive realism that only a community such as ourselves can provide. TORA is based on the Xbox 360 platform due to its robust online infrastructure, universal voice chat support and large user base. Forza 2 is TORA's simulator of choice as it offers an unparalleled opportunity to build racing cars to our own specs and paint unique and replica liveries, which gives TORA's championships a realistic feel. Founding and History TORA (The online Racing Association) is an evolution of the Forza 2 British GT Championship which started life back in November 2007. There was only one championship, based on the UK national GT series and a small community developed from 4 racers in the first outing to 19 by the final round with many more members taking part on the forums. By season 2, 41 racers had signed up, and a second series was organized to include touring cars as part of the format for the first time. The biggest change came between the second and third series of the GT Championship when the group moved to its new home in August 2008. Shortly after the need was felt by the new Staff Group that a more 'official' sounding name was needed as the community expanded and more race types became part of the program. So the BGTA British Grand Touring Association was born, still maintaining the groups links to its GT based roots. During this time the third season of the FM2 British GT started, now supported by major tuning house AG Tuning. A similar deal was struck for the 'BTCC Series 2' which commenced in late 2008. By January 2009 the biggest re-organization of the group took place and TORA (dubbed 'the next big thing') rose out of the BGTA. With the 'new face of online racing' came a brand new website, new media centre TORA TV and a podcast service. In the early hours of 10th March 2009, TORA was officially launched along with the completion of the website (FRC7) and release of the GTC Season 4 rules and regulations. TORA remains committed to becoming the best online racing community for the Xbox 360 and beyond... 2007 TORA was founded on 27 November 2007 by a disgruntled member of an online touring car series who felt he could do a better job than the series organizers. TORA's original forum was set up with freeforums.org on 05 December 2007. However racing did not take place in 2007. 2008 2008 saw the beginning of TORA's on track activities, with the first meeting of the inaugural TORA GT Championship taking place on 24 February. Season 1 ran for 9 rounds, finishing at Silverstone on 20 April. Season 2 of the GTC ran between 25 May and 14 September. TORA's second championship, The TORA Touring Car Championship got under way on 27 May and ran for an abbreviated eight rounds till 16 September. The first Challenge Cup, The Peugeot Cup was contested over eight rounds between 25 August and 20 October. The first half of the third season of the GTC took place in 2008, commencing on 12 October. 06 November saw the first meeting of the irregularly staged HSSCC. The WRC miniseries was a short test against the clock, between 10 November and 08 December. The first annual BRITCAR24 and NURBURG24 events took place on 30 November and 14 December respectively. Two meetings of the revitalized second season of the TCC took place on 09 December and 23 December respectively. 2009 TORA kicked of 2009 in style at Mugello for the MARTINI 40th Anniversary Event, celebrating Martini & Rossi's historic involvement in motorsport on 04 January. 06 January saw the continuation of Season 2 of the TCC, cumulating at Maple Valley on 14 April. The second half of the third season of the GTC took place between 11 January and 22 February. 2009 saw the arrival of a third main series to TORA's portfolio, The TORA GP Championship. The first season of eight rounds started on 18 January and ended on 12 April. The second Challenge Cup, the SEAT Supercup was fearsly contested over 7 rounds between 27 January and 21 April. The Second meeting of the HSSCC took place at Sebring on 10 February. Another annual event, The Petit Le Mans was on 22 March. A massive regulation shake up was seen at the beginning of Season 4 of the TORA GT Championship which started on 03 May and will finish on 09 August. The TORA Marathon was a 52 round spectacular lasting about 10 hours on 24 and 25 May. The second season of the GPC is due to commence on 07 June. A Caterham Challenge if due to take place at Brans Hatch on 18 June, this will be TORA's first event on a non Forza platform. 25 June will see a fourth annual event, the 12 Hours of Sebring. As part of TORA's Summer Events program, a Time Attack will take place over three rounds between 02 and 16 July. The third season of the TCC will get underway on 30 June. TORA is currently organizing its first non Forza based championship, The TORA PRO Touring Car Championship, on SIMBIN's RACE PRO and is due to start on 21 July. As part of TORA Historics and the Summer Events, there will be two meetings of the GT90s on 23 and 30 July. To recognize Pontiac's part in morotsport, there will be a fair well celebration at Sebring on 06 August. Although not currently dated, sometime this year there will be both BRITCAR and NURBURG 24 events after the completion of Season 4 of the GTC. The TORA Rally Championship is likely to commence in November on the DIRT 2 platform. 2010 The Online Racing Association has confirmed the following events and championships for 2010. Forza 3 TORA GT Championship - Season 5 TORA GP Championship - Season 3 TORA Touring Car Championship - Season 4 2010 BRITCAR24 2010 NURBURG24 2010 12 Hours of Sebring 2010 Petit Le mans Race PRO TORA PRO Touring Car Championship - Season 2 DIRT 2 The TORA Rally Championship - Season 2 F1 2010 TORA GP Championship - Season 4 TORA has confirmed that events will take place on Gran Turismo 5, but no plans have been made as of yet. Records TORA operates a Hall of Fame system, where points are awarded for finishing on the podium. Attendance for both drivers and teams is also recorded.. TORA GT Championship File:TORA_GTC.png This is inspired by the FIA GT and British GT championships and will be entering its fourth season in early May. The GT Championship is at the centre of TORA's activities and can be considered as our main series that we run. Starting life as the Forza 2 British GT Championship back in November 2007, this has been the roots from which TORA has grown, consistently fielding large grids and producing exciting racing with championships only decided at the last race. Now entering its fourth season and with exciting new regulations, the GT Championship stands to provide an even closer racing experience than before with more evenly matched cars and an new extended raceday structure. Season 1 Here is where it all began! Starting at Silverstone with four entrants, the series grew rapidly racing across the globe going full circle and ending back in Northamptonshire for the exciting finale. With teams and drivers from all over the world this was an exciting and promising start to the TORA story. Silverstone International: The first meeting of the GTC ran with only four entries but the racing was close throughout and ultimately decided in the last few corners on both occasions. PR3D in his Corvette proving the class of the field ahead of firstly TVR Fan1 in the Sagaris then jenson09's Shelby GT500 in race 2. Mugello: The second meeting saw an influx of new cars including the debut of SoW Achill's Jet Alliance Aston Martin which dominated both qualifying and the race ahead of Round 1 victor, PR3D. Sebring: Yet more entries and another victor in the shape of Northern Star's Jimmy Storie and his Gallardo. The Scottish driver completely obliterated the field, finishing several seconds ahead of the Jet Alliance duo in Round 5. Round 6 was a case of 'same again' with Jimmy Storie completing a lights to flag victory ahead of SoW Achill and series debutant, aggression in his BMW E46 Coupe. Laguna Seca: Jimmy Storie looked set to repeat his Sebring success until a DNF in Round 7, robbed him of the chance. Instead, it was a Jet Alliance 1-2, their first of the season. 3rd went to FS Motorsport's FIR3START3R UK in his impressive Porsche. Round 8 also went to SoW Achill, now seeming to have a hold on the title lead, with Highcroft's Viper and Legg2k8's BMW close behind. Road America: The longest track on the calendar saw business as usual with Jimmy Story taking a lights to flag victory in both races. The story of the meeting was the progress of the only lady racer in the series. LittleMissNephnie, racing in the second THR Shelby surprised all by claiming 3rd place at her debut meeting! Horselegs and FIR3START3R shared second places at the demanding circuit. Motegi: The series first foray to the Far East saw normal service resumed with the Northern Star Lamborghini of Jimmy Story once again dominating all sessions of the weekend. Round 11 saw a podium for the BMW of Horselegs and a surprise 3rd place for jenson09 after the two Gulf Astons collided in the final turn allowing him through. Round 12 saw second go to Horselegs once again and 3rd to the Viper of Highcroft. Sunset Peninsula: The complex circut saw yet more entrants and a new leader. AZT Mad Monk in the CR Scuderia F430 took pole and bagged his first win ahead of the Jaguar of Lord of all joy and TVR Fan1. jenson09's title aspirations started to unravel as he failed to finish the first race of the day. Round 14 also went to the competitive Ferrari driver this time ahead of FS Motorsport's FIR3START3R and the ever present Highcroft. Road Atlanta: An eventful race was eventually won by AZT Mad Monk once again ahead of FIR3START3R and the re-emerging TVR Fan1. SoW Achill who was slowly closing in on the title, won the second race after a less than satisfactory showing in the first. FIR3START3R, again, claimed 2nd, this time ahead of the CR Scuderia Ferrari. Championship contender jenson09 missed the round and dropped from 2nd to 6th in the table. Silverstone GP: Sow Achill secured the title in style, claiming both pole position then the win on the Grand Prix circuit. AZT Mad Monk had a solid finish to the season, ending the race in second whilst third went to series returnee PR3D who raced on behalf of THR in his newly painted Corvette. Season 2 The GT's returned for a second season of exciting racing. With grid sizes growing and new teams entering the fray this was one of the most hotly contested championships. The X3R team took the championship by the scruff of the neck and took both titles. This doesn't mean the series was without excitement and no race could have been considered a foregone conclusion. Silverstone International: Where Jet Alliance Racing finished, X3R Racing continued. The mighty X3Rs Basco and Monkey blew the established crowd into the weeds at the Northamptonshire circuit. First by qualifying considerably ahead of the field in the Heats then by finishing 1-3 in the Race. Only Team Nasty's Jammy D NASTY could spoil the complete domination with his 2nd place. Reigning champion SoW Achill, now running under the AG Racing banner, could only manage 13th in his new F430 with team mate, Sangheli 14th. Sebring: Once again X3R Basco in his Viper proved the class of the field. On this occasion he was followed home by his team mate in their first 1-2 of the championship, considered somewhat inevitable by most of the paddock. AG Racing's SoW Achill managed 4th position on this occasion just ahead of the new Ultimate Motorsport duo of iGr iGr Short Sh1ft and RossK26. Also of note was the new Audi S5 which took 2nd and 6th-9th places. Clearly 4WD was to prove an advantage, though not enough to keep up with X3R. THR returned to the fold with jenson09 and TVR Fan1 with their new Gallardos. However they could only manage 10th and 14th. Sunset Peninsula: The X3R steamroller continued unabated with another win for Basco and third place for Monkey. Ultimate almost lived up to their branding with new signing iGr Champion taking the fight to the French team and splitting them at the flag. Vitaphone Racing's new driver BDR Luckier leapt ahead of team leader Highcroft and secured 5th place ahead of iGr Short Shift. This round saw another influx of new drivers including Ianmr for M&M Racing who finished inside the top 10 on his debut. This was perhaps one of the worst events for THR. Fielding a Gallardo, a Porsche Turbo and now the Audi R8 of culchi from the collapsed CCMR team, they languished at the bottom of the table. Mugello: X3R wins in Italy but this time it was the Audi S5 of Monkey who took victory ahead of Basco. Third place went to the improving iGr Short Sh1ft in the venerable 360 Modena. Selective Rogue posted his best performance so far with 4th place in his Aston Martin. LilMissNephnie returned to the series but after a strong start to the race technical problems curtailed her progress. A repeat of her Road America podium was not to occur. On his second race in the championship, series returnee PR3D suffered from a lack of testing. His formerly mightily fast Corvette simply didn't stand up to the progression of the other teams, he finished last of the classified runners. Road Atlanta: All change at the top! Ultimate Motorsport utterly dominated proceedings at the American track locking out the top two in Qualifying then scoring their first win of the season. iGr Champion took victory with iGr Short Sh1ft grabbing third. Orange Motorsport's Stealth split the two Ferraris at the flag. Headline news was how it all unravelled for X3R. Monkey was unable to race and following a collision early on, Basco was unable to continue and recorded his first DNF of the season. Laguna Seca: The GT circus returns to the Californian track for the second time and the returning X3R Monkey took victory once again. Proving they were still the team to beat. While it was relatively quiet at the top a ding dong battle between Selective Rogue and jenson09 (in his Weston Pier livery) resulted in one of the closest finishes of the season, despite it being for midfield points. Yet again the race unravelled for X3R Basco and he failed to score for a second time while Audi S5's and 360 Modena’s formed a orderly pattern at the top! Motegi: In a change to Season 1 the GT's used the slightly shorter East course but the racing was just as exciting. X3R Basco showed signs of a return to form with 4th place, his team mate winning once again in the seemingly bulletproof S5. iGr Champion once again provided Ultimate with a strong podium finish just ahead of iGr Ayrton Senna in his privately entered Gallardo. Ianmr finished the race the highest placed Porsche in 5th place and once again THR suffered an appalling meeting with neither car making the flag. The first time the team had recorded a double retirement. Suzuka: Part two of the Japanese leg of the tour saw victory go once again to X3R Monkey in a sole entry for the French team. M&M Racing posted their best result of the season gathering 2nd place for Ianmr and 4th for Richy59. KRI5 ONE in his Shelby GT500 took the final podium spot in his best finish so far. At this stage the direction of the titles seemed quite clear.... Silverstone GP: And so to the final round on the Silverstone GP Circuit, and victory to Ianmr and M&M Racing who had been nipping at the heels of the leading pack for sometime now. The victory seemed slightly hollow with champions X3R so ahead of the pack they saw no need to race. The podium was completed by Vitaphone's BDR Luckier and the Ferrari of iGr Short Sh1ft in what was a largely uneventful race. Season 3 If the changing name of the organisation behind it wasn't enough the GTC exploded once again with bigger grids and a wider range of teams and cars. At least three or four teams could have won th title but in the end it was a suprise racer, away from the controversy of other racers that took victory. And proof that nice guys don't always finish last! Silverstone International: With a record 28 drivers taking to the grid hopes were high for the new season. A strong race for Audi Sport who through Mad Monk and ExTiNcT finished 1st and 2nd. The Porsche Turbo of iGr Short Sh1ft took the final podium spot for UPR Motorsport. The main talking points from the meeting had to be the utter dominance of the 4WD brigade taking seven of the top ten places and also the noticeable absence of the French X3R team. Road Atlanta: Another bumper field saw the team formerly known as Ultimate recapture some of their form from the previous visit. iGr Short Sh1ft took his first win for his team with team mate KRI5 ONE taking third. Former team mate iGr Champion took second. The notable issue here was that Porsches, in various models, took seven of the top 8 places! Only DAN2605 in his Sagaris could break into the group, securing 6th place. Laguna Seca: Audi Sport returned after a race off and Mad Monk returned to the top of the results after another strong performance in the S4. His main opposition came this time from DAN2605 in the Sagaris closely followed by rookie sensation NICKFTM3. M&M Racing's Ianmr narrowly missed out on a podium and finished in 5th followed by fellow Porsche driver AJzero in his Scuderia Martini example. Race 2 winner iGr Short Shift did not attend to continue his progress. Motegi: UPR claimed yet another double podium at the first part of the Japanese leg of the tour. iGr Short Sh1ft victorious over team mate KRI5 once again in third. ExTiNcT holding up Audi Sport honors claimed second place, with Mad Monk falling off the podium for first time in the races he had contested. Yet again Ianmr was there in 6th waiting in the wings should any of the top runners falter. AJthe Butcher dropped to 7th in this round. The fact this was considered a bad result showed the expectation in the team for strong results in their debut year. Suzuka: Once again Audi Sport took the top honors, claiming their second one-two of the season which had been on the cards for a while. AJtheButcher took third for his PLOW Motorsport team and finished the first all Audi podium. Once again Ianmr narrowly missed out on his first podium of the season but finished ahead of the returning UPR boys. adam20692 recorded his best result so far, 10th for Aston Martin Racing. He finished just ahead of the Vibe twins and the lead (rebranded) Relentless THR of jenson09. Mugello: Audi Sport continued their winning ways, recording another one-two finish, though this time the victory went to ExTiNcT over Mad Monk. Third place went to the ever improving lfcnicklfc. The Audi S5 was looking to be the car to beat locking out the top four positions. AJtheButcher continued his run of form, picking up fourth place ahead of the UPR Motorsport trio. Road America: It was another UPR victory but not the usual suspect! KRIS ONE claimed his first victory under sustained pressure from PLOW Motorsport's AJtheButcher. iGr Short Sh1ft came home in third place. An M&M driver was once again to be found lurking just outside the top three, this time in the shape of NICKFTM3. Meanwhile, Mad Monk claimed his first DNF of the season, potentially damaging more for the Teams Championship as he was the sole entrant for Audi Sport on this occasion. Sunset Peninsula: Audi Sport further highlighted their dominance of the GTC with another one-two for the team. Monk adding another trophy to his already bulging cabinet! The UPR Motorsport of iGr Short Sh1ft took the final spot but it was PLOW Motorsport, fielding all three cars for the first time, who performed strongly from a teams perspective, finishing 4th 9th and 10th. Sebring: In a smaller, more intimate race for the GTC, NICKFTM3 led home an M&M one-two. Third place went to the Audi of lfcnicklfc. PLOW Motorsport, again, collected fourth ahead of DAN2605 now back in his own Austins Motorsport team. New PLOW signing OnlyBartonFink, moving over from the touring car team, claimed a strong seventh ahead of the two Relentless THR cars of Selective Rogue and jenson09. 8th and 9th being the teams best finish of the season. Silverstone GP: The championship went down to the wire once again and was decided in perhaps the most controversial yet FIA mirroring manner possible. With potential champions Audi Sport being unable to race due to off track politicking it was left to the UPR drivers to fight it out amongst themselves, along with DAN2605 in his now independent effort. With iGr Short Shift failing to start the race, the title became an almost foregone conclusion (assuming KRI5 ONE finished!). At the fall of the final flag, It was an emphatic victory for AJ the Butcher. Well deserved after a strong season. DAN2605 pipped KRI5 to the line, finishing second and third respectively. The maths meant KRI5 ONE was crowned champion by a margin of only 30 points over DAN2605. Season 4 A record number of teams and drivers have entered for the fourth season of TORA's premier race series. It is widely expected that high numbers will persist and the racing, under new regs is expected to be even better than before. The championship starts at Maple Valley for the first time and culminates at Silverstone for the usual season climax. Media Day Mugello Maple Valley' Road Atlanta Suzuka Motegi Sunset Peninsula Sebring Silverstone TORA GP Championship File:TORA_GPC.png Raced using the Peugeot 908 LMP1 and requiring replica F1 liveries, the GPC is contested over eight rounds across the globe. The cars are 'stock' and without tune or setup making it a purely driver oriented series. Who can master one of the most powerful prototype cars in the world? Season 1 The debut season of the GPC saw entries from a number of teams and the racing was as close as ever. Late entry DAN2605 took the series by storm and was odds on to win overall. Unforeseen circumstances halted his charge. A new face would take ultimate victory and an old name, the teams title. Sebring Round one of the GPC featured a number of well known names fighting for victory. For a while it looked as if a clever strategy was to benefit the McLarens but it was adam20692 who took a win for Renault, dutifully supported by team mate nickyf1. Selective Rogue rounded out the podium, third in his Williams. The aforementioned McLarens of iGr ShortSh1ft and AJZero could only manage 4th and 8th despite the lighter fuel loads and newer tyres late on in the race. Motegi' KING HILL entered the series in his Super Aguri. No pressure then.... He started from pole and went off into a lead he never looked like losing. Behind him, the McLaren of AJzero and nickyf1's Renault fought valiantly for the final podium spot. Chaddy 2k8 secured the Scuderia's first podium of the season. Sunset Peninsula Red Bull arrived with a bang! DAN2605 took to the track and was instantly quickest, grabbing pole by a country mile. The race was more of the same with the lead Red Bull driving off into the distance and actually lapping his team mate who at this stage was struggling to get to grips with the car and ended up 6th. Chaddy2k8 picked up another second place behind the ominously dominant Red Bull with iGr ShortSh1ft finishing not far off in third. It was a turn about race for KING HILL, the previous winner dropping to 8th with his team mate taking last place. Silverstone The home race for many drivers saw an exciting event unfold, though behind the leader (DAN) who skipped off into the distance once more. KING HILL retuned to his form picking up a fantastic second place over the McLaren twins, iGr ShortSh1ft leading AJzero to the flag. Behind them came the two Williams of TVR Fan and Selective Rogue. jenson09 failed to finish the race, his car grinding to a halt at Vale. Road America A strong showing from both Red Bulls saw them 1st and 3rd on the grid. Off the start, DAN led the way while jenson09 got into trouble which dropped him back and hindered his progress. Later contact with the McLaren of AJzero further delayed his progress and resulted in a race-long battle between the two. Further ahead it was another strong result for Chaddy2k8 and KING HILL picking up second and third respectively. Suzuka A first lap collision between most of the title protagonists looked to induce more intrigue into an already exciting season. AJzero and jenson09 picked their way through the carnage and looked set to capitalize on the chaos until DAN stormed by first his team mate who struggled with an ailing engine before retiring and then AJzero. Williams' Selective Rogue also found a way past the McLaren and gained second place. After the initial accident, KING HILL and Chaddy2k8 ended up 6th and 7th. With the title going to the wire and with four drivers capable of winning. Mugello The final round, and DAN2605 was out due to technical difficulties. Championship over. KING HILL stamped his authority on the race and the championship, winning comfortably ahead of Selective Rogue whose Williams team had done enough to ensure themselves the Teams trophy. AJzero rounded out the podium. Nordschleife The final round, and DAN2605 was out due to technical difficulties. Championship over. KING HILL stamped his authority on the race and the championship, winning comfortably ahead of Selective Rogue whose Williams team had done enough to ensure themselves the Teams trophy. AJzero rounded out the podium. Season 2 Media Day/Pre-Season Test' The second season of the GPC kicked off at Sunset Peninsula for the Media Day. Entries from Brawn GP, McLaren, Williams and Jordan were present and put on a good show. The new rules concerning pre-race 'fuel strategy' worked well and added to the excitement of the new season. Road America New York Sebring Motegi Suzuka Mugello Silverstone Laguna Seca Road Atlanta Nordschleife TORA Touring Car Championship File:TORA_TCC.png Inspired by the British Touring Car Championship. Panel bashing, door handle to door handle, wheel to wheel over thirty races at ten circuits. With a wide range of road derived machinery, the TCC aims to provide a racing environment as close to the spirit of its real world inspiration as possible. Touring cars, by its very nature epitomizes close racing and the TORA series has this in spades. Each championship has been highly successful and been full of action. Season 3 is expected to be no different. Season 1 Following in the footsteps of the BTCC, touring cars entered the fray. An interesting mix of cars raced throughout with the SEAT Leon proving to be the class of the field. Several teams took wins and even more drivers but the title went to the wire and the excitement off the scale in the premier touring car series on Forza. Maple Valley Season 1, Meeting 1, Round 1,PR3D took his maiden win for THR SEAT Sport in the first round in a SEAT podium lock out. The Team Nasty Leons of JAMMY D and AGENT took the remaining podium spots. Due to an unforeseen administrative error, the results of the top 6 (Lobby 1) were lost so all competitors received the same points score. In Round 2, once again a SEAT led the field, this time in the hands of JAMMY D who managed to stay ahead PR3D, claiming a strong second place. BDR Luckier broke the SEAT stranglehold by claiming 3rd place in his Team WKD Nissan Sentra. Further back a sizable shunt saw the SEAT Sport car of jenson09 struggle home in last place. By Round 3, a trend seemed to be forming as once again SEATs locked out the top two places. Team Nasty got their first one-two of the season. A win each, as AGENT took his first victory. Again BDR Luckier finished third ahead of the leading two THR SEAT Sport Leons of PR3D and TVR Fan1. Sunset Peninsula The 'SEAT Championship' as it was being dubbed continued unabated at Sunset, with JAMMY D collecting another victory though he was the sole Leon driver on the podium. Team WKD fielded two cars for iGr Short Sh1ft and BDR Luckier and they finished second and third respectively. Team Halfords had a better meeting in their Hondas. ckBrenneke finishing just off the podium in 4th with craigsteralex in his Integra following. JAMMY D became the first driver to win consecutive races in round 5 with the WKD boys following behind in the same order as race one. A race long tussle with jenson09 finally yielded another 4th place for ckBrenneke. A not dissimilar podium to the previous two races but BDR Luckier claimed his first victory for the Nissan very closely followed by JAMMY D and the second Sentra of iGr Short Sh1ft. jenson09 finally got the better of the Halfords Civic and claimed a distant fourth. Suzuka All the pre-race testing shinanigans led to a 'lively' atmosphere for the first race! PR3D took another victory for THR SEAT Sport ahead of the WKD boys in an eventful race for all. TVR Fan1 took a strong 4th place ahead of the Halfords duo. PR3D doubled up in Suzuka with his second win of the day once again ahead of the WKD Sentras. ckBrenneke broke through the TVR battle lines and claimed fourth ahead of the SEAT after a slight off. jenson09 continued to struggled at the circuit and could only finish last. BDR Luckier won Round 9 this time ahead of the THR SEAT of TVR Fan1 who lucked into second place after contact between iGr Short Sh1ft and PR3D dropped the two back. Third went to an ecstatic ckBrenneke. Team Halfords posed their strongest result to date with 3rd and 4th. Road Atlanta Road Atlanta in July, and it was business as usual at the front with PR3D taking another victory for SEAT. BDR Luckier once again finished a strong second place but surprise of the race was Highcroft in a VW Golf. He claimed third place in his debut race ahead of the improved THR SEAT of jenson09 who seemed to revel in the conditions at Road Atlanta. Back to normal in round 11 as PR3D led the way from BDR Luckier and Marchie. jenson09 once again showed better form with another 4th place after a good battle with ckBrenneke's Honda. Round 10's highlight, Highcroft, failed to finish the race. The same trio at the top, but a different order with BDR Luckier notching up yet another victory. PR3D dropped to second place just ahead of iGr Short Sh1ft who had missed the first round. On this occasion it was ckBrenneke who narrowly edged out jenson09 for fourth place. Sebring It was a WKD one-two in the US of A, with iGr Short Sh1ft beating his team mate for the first time this season. New entrants M&M Racing, started well with Ianmr proving his skill lay not only in GT racing and picked up a podium. Highcroft's Golf split the two M&M racers ahead of the Halfords Honda of garyp. THR SEAT Sport was notable in its absence... iGr Short Sh1ft had more to celebrate with a second win in round 14. He beat Wilksy in the new IT SEAT Sport Leon, to the win. For M&M it was Richy's turn to taste the champagne with his first podium of the season. Ianmr finished 4th ahead of championship leader BDR Luckier, who finished off the podium for the first time. All change for the final race of the day with Wilksy taking his maiden victory ahead of Richy who did one better than race 2. Jake dropped to third place at the flag ahead of his teammate and Ianmr. adam in the second IT SEAT finished 5th ahead of all the Halfords Hondas. Laguna Seca Continuing from his last race, Wilksy took victory in Florida, fending off stiff opposition from iGr Short Sh1ft and BDR Luckier. adam brought the sister car to Wilksy's home in fourth ahead of the sole M&M entry. BDR Luckier shook off a period of poor form an took the second race convincingly from Wilksy and iGr Short Sh1ft in third. Ianmr beat off adam's IT SEAT for fourth place and the lone THR SEAT Sport of TVRFan finished 6th ahead of the three Halfords Hondas. Luckier made it two in a row with another victory over Wilksy. adam bumped iGr Short Sh1ft off the podium to secure his best finish of the season and the team's best finish to date. Road Atlanta Short Luckier's title aspirations seemed more secure with yet another victory on the tight Californian circuit. IT SEAT Sport were proving to be the team THR SEAT Sport should have been taking another 2nd and 3rd place for Wilksy and adam respectively. One more for Luckier as he made it effectively four in a row. The podium had a distinct feeling of deja vu about it. Not far behind were the M&M twins on Ianmr and Richy. Breakthrough for Ianmr as he took victory ahead of Luckier and Wilksy. There was no doubt that the SEAT Leon was the car to beat in the series. Silverstone Wilksy returned to winning ways beating the WKD boys once again on the shorter Road Atlanta course that should have benefitted the longer wheelbase cars than seemed the case. ckbrenneke surprised with a fourth place. THR SEAT Sport returned to two thirds strength with jenson09 returning though progress was slow and the two cars finished at the back. Race two and Wilksy continued his run of form ahead of Luckier. Ianmr joined the sparring pair once again on the podium. 4th place went to the improving jenson09 back in his SEAT after a few weeks off. iGr Short Sh1ft dropped to the back after a torrid race. It was Richy's time for a win! The M&M driver took a convincing win over the WKD car of Marchie. iGr Short Sh1ft finished a fine third place ahead of Ianmr. Once again the two THR SEATs bore the brunt of on track antics and finished at the tail of the field at their home event Season 2 New regs and a new race day format saw closer racing and fantastic wins for a number of key drivers. The titles always looked to be going the way of the 4WD brigade but the rule set up meant that the title remained close to the bitter end. Maple Valley Short PLOW entered touring cars with a bang in their Subaru Legacys. Butcher led the way in a PLOW 1-2-4 ahead of the lone Clio of ExTiNcT in third. New teams locked out the top 6 places with ckBrenneke the highest established name in 7th and Ianmr finishing 10th. No THR this season, jenson09 having been signed for Team Halfords but a collision into Turn 1 with Austins' Aid123x put pay to his race. PLOW fired a strong statement of intention with a second victory for Butcher, finishing ahead of Backfire's Renault Clio. Austins Motorsport's KRI5 ONE completed the podium, fending off the PLOW car of Paulsn1970. A topsy turvy race with DAN2605 claiming his first win of the season in his Civic Type R ahead of lfcnick and Ianmr in what had been a very tightly fought race in true touring car fashion. On this occasion the highest PLOW Legacy finished 7th behind the Halfords Honda of jenson09 in the reverse grid race. Suzuka The second meeting and the second strong start for Butcher in his Legacy. He took his third victory ahead of the Stobart Ford of lfcnick and Marchie in the lead M&M SEAT. Paulsn1970 finished just off the podium in the absence of Tubbiboy. Ianmr and KRI5 ONE rounded out the top 6. Further back and series debutant murcielagogama, fielding the unique all carbon fiber Mini, finished a credible 10th after a race long battle with garyp. Butcher continued his habit of winning the first two races, posting yet another victory in race 2 ahead of the same podium as race 1, lfcnick for Stobart and iGr Short Sh1ft for M&M. It was not a good meeting for nickyf1 in the other Stobart car. The SEAT speared off the track in the final corner and caused severe damage. A better meeting for Halfords, who finished 8th and 9th just behind the Civic of DAN2605. Race three of the day went to DAN2605 in a hight charged race between the Hondas of Austins and Halfords. jenon09 picked up his first podium in the touring cars and Halfords best result to date with team mate garyp coming home in 5th in cars with minimal testing miles. 3rd place went to M&M's Richy and a surprising 4th to the Mini of Murcielagogama. Mugello Butcher took win number 7 in the first race in Italy but the other PLOW's were notable in their absence. iGr Short Shift took second for M&M , continuing his run of strong finishes while DAN2605 who had complained the Civic was down on power compared to the others managed 3rd at a track where speed is essential. A PLOW won again but this time in the hands of Tubbiboy. Championship leader Butcher suffered a horrendous meeting, dropping to 7th.The podium was completed once more, with iGr Short Shift and DAN. The performance of the Civic Type R causing ckBrenneke to grumble about how on EARTH he was getting such pace out of the car he had used the year before to limited success. adam finished fourth in his Chevvy with lfcnick not far behind in the strong Stobart Ford. AJzero took his first win for Scuderia MARTINI in an action packed race that saw the competitive Halfords boys self destruct and take themselves out of contention. A collision between jenson09, ckBrenneke and Ianmr allowed AJzero the breathing space to almost cruise home to victory but for a late challenge from nickyf1 who had his strongest race after the disappointment of Suzuka. Road Atlanta The first race of the day saw Chevrolet post their best result of the season with second and third behind the PLOW Motorsports Legacy of yes you guessed it, Butcher. Austins had a strong first race finishing 5th and 6th. Further back and contact between nickyf1 and jenson09 saw the Honda spun off the track and to the back of the field. He drove strongly back through the pack to finish 12th just behind his attacker. For race two see race one. Butcher led from Wilksy and adam in third. While it was relatively quiet at the top further back all hell was breaking loose when a late lunge from jenson09 on AJZero set off a series of events that saw most of the second half of the grid flrying off the track and resulted in two heavily damaged Halfords Hondas. A breakthrough race for Halfords, jenson09 took his first outright win narrowly ahead of Ianmr who, once past garyp badgered jenson's Honda to the end. AJzero took third in another stong meeting for him ahead of the second M&M SEAT of Richy and the other two Halfords Hondas. Chaddy survived early contact with his team mate which had seen him off the track and finished 7th just ahead of nickyf1 who also had a scary looking crash. Motegi Butcher continued his trend of winning both races of the day, picking up victory over Mad Monk in the returning Renault Sport UK Clio. Tubbiboy returned to form with a 3rd in the opening round. NICKFTM3 in the rebranded Team AON Focus finished in fourth and ahead of the second Clio. The field was boosted by the arrival of a number of new teams bringing the entry to 23. Mad Monk ensured he'd be off Butcher's Christmas card list by ruining the seemingly endless winning streak of the Legacy. He won emphatically over the PLOW driver but Butcher was nothing if not gracious in defeat. NICKFTM3 continued his upwards trend picking up a third place. Further back and Mugello winner AJzero was taken off the circuit early on an struggled round at the tail of the field if only to bag pole in the final race. AJ on pole, AJ wins. A fine drive from the Scuderia MARTINI driver despite pressure from a resurgent jenson09 saw another victory notched up and one of the best results for Martini with team mate Chaddy in fourth place. nickyf1 shrugged off more bad luck to collect 3rd in a competitive meeting for him. New boys SBR Midnight Runners have their own and finished a credible 5th and 6th. Sebring It seemed a long time since both PLOWs were topping the standings so they duly obliged and posed a one-two, with Butcher leading tubbiboy home for yet another win. NICKFTM3 proved his Motegi form was no fluke and securd another third with KRIS ONE 4th for Austins. Further back and jenson09's claims that he must have an M&M magnet on his car seemed well founded as once again he fought with both blue SEATs, ending in an M&M sandwich. culchi entered for a guest appearance in a VXR Astra loaned to him from THR, ahead of a full campaign in season 3. NICKFTM3 went one better this time and claimed 2nd just behind Butcher's Legacy showing that was possible to bring the fight to the 4WD cars that had dominated the series. Chaddy had an outstanding meeting for Scuderia MARTINI and secured fourth place while series debutant KING HILL finished a strong 7th in his Sentra. AJzero took his third win of the season in controversial circumstances that was, in some circles, being dubbed 'sandbag-gate', behind him was a surprised Sam Billing for SBR notching up his best result of the season and culchi in the guest VXR completing the podium! ckBrenneke finished fourth for best of the Halfords runners after a hit and miss meeting. Laguna Seca Once again victory went to the 4WD Legacy of Butcher, just edging out the ever improving Ford of NICKFTM3. DAN2605 showed a return to form in his Civic, picking up a strong fourth place with his team mate right behind and KING HILL once again getting 7th in the Nissan. Another PLOW one-two for Butcher and new driver OnlyBartonFink. KRI5 ONE took third for Austins and finished ahead of NICKFM3's AON Ford. Further back and the curse of M&M befell jenson09, once again finding himself between the two SEATs. AJzero dropped to the back after an incident packed race. Another lights to flag victory for AJzero but had it not been for lap one collisions for most the top half of the field it could have been so much closer. He edged out the Halfords Honda of jenson09 who flew the field from the back after a spin early on, overtaking Y22 in the other AON Ford on the last lap. Ianmr finished an incredible 4th after signficant damage had been inflicted on his car in Turn 1. SamBilling had held a podium slot till lat in the race when frustration from the cars behind saw him drop back. Silverstone Tubbiboy showed it was not al about Butcher by taking a fantastic win over his team mate who was oh so close to the title. Once again it was the AON Ford of NICKFTM3 who finished third. Middlehurst Motorsport had a strong race finshing 6th and 7th. Back in the pack, contact between Y22 and jenson09 pitched the Honda out of Luffield into his team mate, dropping the Hondas back. For race 2 read race one. The same three stood on the podium in the same order. Perhaps Butcher, sensing he had done enough was happy to settle for second at this late stage in the championship hunt. OnlyBartonFink made it a PLOW 1,2,4. Once again Ianmr and jenson09 fought together, finishing inside the top ten. ckBrenneke shook off the bad luck of the other trio races to claim his first ever win narrowly ahead if Ianmr and Y22 in the AON Focus. AJzero and jenson09 were notable absences at the top of the table after a coming together into Copse put both off the track. jenson09 openly admitted it had been a cheeky lunge up the inside but thought the move had been telegraphed enough after previous moves. Sunset Peninsula Another new winner in the shape of the returning adam in his Chevrolet. He beat OnlyBartonFink and Butcher to the victory on this occasion. Butcher seemingly happy to settle for points once again. lfcnick had another strong run to 5th overall ahead of the third PLOW car and DANs Civic. adam made it two in a row over the PLOW boys, though this time Butcher got the better of his less experienced team mate. DAN improved to 5th just behind the ever present NICKFTM3 whose favourite position seemed to be fourth! Selective Rogue entered the fray in an independantly entered Audi and was instantly on the pace, finishing 10th. In a fantastically close race, jenson09 took his second win of the season ahead of the charging Richy59. garyp made it a great day for Halfords Honda securing a solid 3rd place. Slider proved there was pace in their Civics with a 4th place ahead of AJzero and Ianmr. Maple Valley tubbiboy restored order for PLOW on their championship parade by winning in a PLOW 1-2 ahead of usual podium loiterer NICKFTM3. KRI5 ONE finished a credible 4th ahead of the improving Audi of Selective Rogue. One more for the road.... tubbiboy took yet another win for the series champions in the most complete clean sweep seen in a TORA championship. KRI5 ONE joined the duo on the podium in third while at the back a diabolical race for Halfords saw them at the bottom of the charts. The final round of the best touring car series yet! An out of place OnlyBartonFink took a final victory for PLOW ahead of lfcnick and ckBrenneke. He took the lead after a daring move on pole sitter Slider by himself and jenson09 saw them three abreast down the tight back straight. Somehow they all survived. AJzero finished fourth and jenson09 6th after exploring the absolute limits of the circuit...several times later in the race. Season 3 Mugello Motegi Sebring New York Silverstone Suzuka Road Atlanta Sunset Peninsula Tsukuba Maple Valley TORA PRO Touring Car Championship Due to start on 21 July 2009 Season 1 TORA Rally Championship TORA is not just about wheel to wheel, bumper to bumper, V8 action, its also about who has the coolest head against the clock! Scuderia MARTINI's lead driver finished second in the best of the Subarus. King Cobra AJzero grabbed victory by over 20 seconds with some deft Loeb style driving over Bridgestone driver i redbeard in his Evo X. King Cobra Reverse iGr Short Sh1ft took his second stage win with a comfortable 30 second margin over AJzero, the two seeming happy to trade stage wins! Nordschleife AJzero won the final stage, again ahead of iGr Short Sh1ft by just 0.386 seconds, the closest finish in TORA History! Black Mamba DAN flew through the quarter and semi finals and beat ExTiNcT to the victory. adam20692 just edged out iGr Short Sh1ft to third place. Multiple stage winner AJZero didn't capitalize on his previous efforts and finished last. TORA Challenge Cups This is where it's at for those who haven't alot of time to invest in a full on GTC or TCC assault. The ideas often come from our members and are fully supported by TORA. They offer the same level of competitive racing but in shorter series often in stock cars that require little or no tuning. They are the easiest way to get into TORA and offer the most accessible starting point. Peugeot Cup Running in stock 208 S2000 Rally cars, the Pug Cup was the first Challenge Cup to take place. A number of entrants provided close racing on a diverse variety tracks. The lack of set ups and modding meant the onus truly was on the driver to make the difference. Suzuka Round one and iGr Champion heralded the new season with a Ultimate whitewash. He took pole, the victory and fastest lap ahead of his team mate iGr ShortSh1ft. Third was KRI5 ONE for Scuderia Martini in a steady race for him. His team mate culchi rounded out the field. Maple Valley iGr Champion continued his run of form with a second win for his Ultimate team. BDR Lucker joined him on the podium for ABR and KRI5 ONE took the final podium spot for the second time. Tsukuba After a 'blip' in form, bradsmith25 emerged victorious in Italy fending off the advances of both Ultimate Motorsport cars. Regular podium visitor KRI5 ONE suffered at this round and could only manage 6th. Laguna Seca Bradsmith25 took another victory for ABR in America, again ahead of the two Ultimate drivers who seemed to be racing for points rather than the win. KRI5 ONE shook off his last race debacle and netted 4th place. Road Atlanta Mugello Champion on the track took the race victory once more to secure the title. iGr Champion's strong finish ensured the Teams title for Ultimate as well. iGr ShortSh1ft made it a final 1-2 for the team. SEAT Supercup Not the first one make series but perhaps one of the best. The SEATs thundered around the globe with a similar race format to the TTCC. This ensured close racing and different winners. Austins Motorsport looked odds on to deliver the title but a late surge by Oreca SEAT Sport saw them grab the title with the drivers accolade going to Selective Rogue. Silverstone The inaugural SEAT Supercup race, held fittingly at Silverstone went to lead Austins Motorsport driver DAN2605in an ominously strong performance. iGr Short Sh1ft finished a steady second ahead of Chaddy2k8 in the second Austins. lfcnick finished in fourth place for Sunred TBR. The story of the day was GRP Motorsport's ckBrenneke, finishing 8th in a hastily prepared car with barely any testing. Austins went one better in race two and secured first and second with iGr Short Sh1ft back in third. lfcnick continued his love affair with fourth place, finishing with Ianmr close behind in 5th. Victory this time went to nickyf1's Sunred TBR in the reverse grid race. AJZero for Scuderia MARTINI and Selective Rogue in the stealthy Project Reality SEAT rounded out the podium. Race 1 and 2 winner DAN2605 managed to rise to 6th place with his team mate right behind in 7th. Diamondback The tight and twisty Diamondback circuit proved an exciting challenge to all. DAN2605 stamped his authority on the race immediately, taking his third win with Chaddy in hot pursuit. nickf1 showed his last race victory was no fluke with a sterling drive to third, edging out the works SEAT Sport entry of jenson09. Once again, DAN2605 too victory in the second Austins 1-2 of the day. nickyf1 rounded out a very familiar podium. jenson09 would probably have been fourth again but electrical issues meant the SEAT was stranded in the pits. That position went to new entrant SamBilling1991 in the SBR run SEAT. Ianmr got the M&M Racing account off the ground with a win in the final race of the day. lfcnick overcame his previously poor races to finish second ahead of Rogue. SBR driver SliderS15 made it a fantastic day for them with an impressive fourth place ahead of the feisty AJzero. Tsukuba DAN took yet another victory in Japan on the impossibly tight track. New entrant NICKFTM3 finished in second place reminding everyone of his skill in a range of vehicles. 3rd went to SEAT Sport's KRI5 ONE while team mate jenson09, after a good start ended up being taken out by half the field after being pitched into the wall by an unknown assassin. For Race 2 see race 1! DAN victorious over NICKFTM3 and KRI5 ONE. Chaddy narrowly missing out on a podium place back in fourth. The reverse grid was supposed to allow the backmarkers a chance to win but clearly no one told DAN this as he stormed from the back of through grid to take a clean sweep of wins in Japan. Sebring DAN continued his run of form taking the first win of the day convincingly over M&M Racing's Ianmr and Chaddy in the second Austins SEAT. Selective Rogue missed out on a podium on this occasion narrowly finishing ahead of KRI5 ONE, who held up works SEAT honors in the absence of jenson09. DAN took yet another convincing victory over the Oreca SEAT Sport entry of KRI5 ONE. AJzero continued his American form, crossing the line in 3rd. Sure enough DAN took his customary second win of the day, edging out KRI5 ONE for the victory on this occasion. The podium was completed with Selective Rogue finished ahead of AJZero. The day was all the sweeter for SEAT with jenson09 finishing in third place. Scuderia MARTINI’s AJzero came home in fourth pace. Sunset Peninsula The titles went almost down to the wire in some of the most exciting race yet seen in TORA let alone the SEAT Supercup! After a race long battle, lfcnicklfc took the first race of the day over Selective Rogue (main title contender) and KRIS ONE (fighting for the Teams Championship). The two Oreca SEAT's swapped positions in the closing stages to allow KRI5 a better run at the leading pair n the second race. Oreca's race one swap paid dividends with KRI5 ONE notching up yet another win for the team, now vital in the Teams title. Main opposition, Scuderia MARTINI made sure it remained tight with AzZero netting second place with lfcnick taking valuable points off the second Oreca car of jenson09. Selective Rogue all but tied up the Drivers title with second place being enough to overhaul the absent DAN's score. The final round and the Teams title was between Scuderia MARTINI and SEAT Sport, the latter ahead by only a handful of points. After a race long battle, bumper to bumper KRI5 ONE took another win, finishing ahead of new champion Selective Rogue. Third place for jenson09 secured the teams title for Oreca SEAT Sport with the highest placed Martin car only 5th. It was looking to be a SEAT Sport one-two but a small mistake in the closing stages allowed Selective Rogue through. A fantastically close end to a great season of racing with the SEATs.
