Gaberbocchus some of the old favourites is the name of a collection of drawings represented by this holiday postcard designed by the Polish artist Franciszka Themerson in the National Library of Poland. This postcard is just one of a set of yearly holiday greeting cards designed by Themerson for her publishing company Gaberbocchus Press that she co-founded in London in 1948 with her husband Stefan Themerson. The collection is preserved as a showcase of the Themersons' creative vision and viewed across the years serves as an overview of their art during 31 years of publishing. Other collections of works by Gaberbocchus Press are in the V & A in London and in Uitgeverij De Harmonie in Amsterdam, which took over the company in 1979 and which has overseen publications about the company and its avant garde creations. |
