Future leaders of Manitoba

The Future Leaders of Manitoba was established by a group of young Manitobans in 2008. This association organizes a large gala in which honours are bestowed to emerging Manitobans who have achieved a high level of excellence. The Future Leaders of Manitoba Council works in partnership with the Business Council of Manitoba, the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and The Manitoba Chamber of Commerce.
The award categories include the Arts, Business, and Community Service. The first award ceremony was held on January 22, 2009, at the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The some of the event sponsors and supporters include: Richardson International, Manitoba Hydro, The Great-West Life Assurance Company, Cargill Limited, Manitoba Telecom Services Inc., RBC Bank, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, IGM Financial Inc., and CKMM-FM.
Nominations
Nominees must be young professionals between the ages of twenty and thirty-five years of age. The nominees must either; reside in Manitoba, having lived in the province for a minimum of four years prior to the award year.
Arts Award
This award recognizes and honours a young Manitoban who is quickly making a name for himself/herself in the arts, while, at the same time, also making a concerted effort to give back to the community. Artists, musicians, filmmakers, performers or anyone involved in the Arts can be nominated in this category. The past recipients for the arts award have included: Pat Lazo (2009) and Adam Smoluk (2010).
Community Service Award
This award recognizes and honours a young Manitoban who is making a name for himself/herself in Community Service, while, at the same time, also making a concerted effort to go above and beyond. The winner will be an active volunteer who donates their time in order to improve the livelihood of others. University students or people employed by the government or a non-profit organization who are heavily active in the community are best qualified for this award. The past recipients for the Community Service award have included: Michael Champagne (2009) and Kevin Chief (2010).
Professional/Business Award
This award recognizes and honours a young Manitoban who has make a name for himself/herself in the Manitoba professional/business community, while, at the same time, also making a concerted effort to give back to the community. The winner must be a strong advocate of Manitoba. The past recipients for the Professional/Business Award have included: Jamie Jurczak (2009) and Sam Pellettieri (2010).
Judges
The judges for the awards consist of a group of distinguished Manitobans. The past judges have included: Jim Carr, Dr. Bill Pope, Gerry Price, Sandy Riley, Rosemary Vodrey, and Lesley Weir.
