Foxit Corporation () is a multinational software corporation headquartered in Fuzhou, China, with offices in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and the United States. Founded in 2001.
The company specializes in providing software for reading, creating, organizing, and securing PDF documents. The most notable product of the company is the Foxit Reader, a PDF reader that has been compared favorably to Adobe Reader. Foxit PDF solutions are available for handhelds and desktops.
History
Foxit was founded in Fuzhou, China in 2001, and established its subsidiary in California, United States in the same year. The company has quickly expanded internationally with offices in the U.S., Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. In 2004, Foxit released its flagship product, Foxit Reader along with its bestselling desktop product, Foxit PDF Editor. In 2009, Foxit Software Company was incorporated as Foxit Corporation.
Foxit was awarded the Minority Global Technology Firm of the Year in August 2011 by the Minority Business Development Association (MBDA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The award recognizes firms for establishing best practices and for their exemplary accomplishments in advancing minority business enterprises.
