Fleet Street Singers

The Stanford Fleet Street Singers, usually called simply "Fleet Street," is an all-male a cappella group, founded in 1981 at Stanford University. The group is best known for its irreverent, comedic, member-written songs, such as "Prayer to the God of Partial Credit" and "Everyone Pees in the Shower." Other songs in Fleet Street's wide repertoire include parodies of current rock and hip-hop hits, jazz classics, and medleys of popular songs.
Fleet Street has performed in many venues, including the New York City jazz club Birdland, onboard Princess Cruises, on the talk show "View from the Bay," at various universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and UC-Berkeley, and at private dinner parties and corporate events. Their song "Life" was aired on Dr Demento. Performances produced by the group itself typically consist of alternating songs and original skits.
The group is known for its inside jokes, including, for instance, frequent references to penguins, inspired by the Fleet Street "uniform." The uniform consists of
-a black tuxedo vest
-matching black pants
-black and white oxford shoes
-red socks
-most notably, a red bow tie
Discography
Fleet Street has produced several albums, which are generally highly-praised by the Recorded A Cappella Review Board (RARB). The album titled 'Fleet Street', with cover art consisting of a picture of a block of Swiss cheese, was the first major collegiate a cappella album produced to contain only student-written, all-original songs. In an unanticipated instance of the cross-bay rivalry, this claim is disputed by UC Berkeley's Noteworthy as their first album was released in the same year. 'Fleet Street' was also Fleet Street's first album released on iTunes.
