Kylie Minogue Rare and Unreleased

This a page of songs that were either recorded or written by singer Kylie Minogue, but were never released.
Here an attempt to track down the missing songs, demos, and published songs that we never got to hear.
Pre-PWL
In 1986, Kylie recorded a number of self-funded demos that have never been released. These songs were not originals. The songs were:
*Dim All the Lights, which was originally recorded by Donna Summer.
*Just Once, which was a cover of the Quincy Jones song.
*New Attitude, which was originally recorded by Patti LaBelle.
The same year, Kylie recorded two duets with her sister Dannii Minogue. Both tracks were recorded in a studio and lip synched durin a performance on the Australian television program Young Talent Time. The studio versions which remain unreleased are:
*Sisters (Are Doin' It for Themselves), which was originally recorded by Eurythmics & Aretha Franklin.
*Twist My Arm, which was originally recorded by The Pointer Sisters.
*Wanting You, Wanting Me, Kylie performed the original song on the Australian soap opera series Neighbours.
PWL era (1987-1992)
It is now confirmed by the record company that all of Minogue's unreleased material from her five years at PWL has now seen a release through Australia's Greatest Remix Hits series, only some mixes remain unreleased.
*"Loco-Motion (Original Version)", released on Greatest Remix Hits 2: This was the first professional recording Kylie made. The vocals from the recording were later used on the Australian "Locomotion" single in 1987. The original completely unreleased version is rockier and more acoustic, with a fully live band supplying the music. The track was rejected by her record label as too "old fashioned".
*"Loco-Motion (A cappella)": Was due to be included on the Greatest Remix Hits series, but was removed on Minogue's request mainly because the appearance of such a track would undoubtedly result in numerous unofficial mixes.
*"Getting Closer", released on Greatest Remix Hits 2
*"Glad to Be Alive", released on Greatest Remix Hits 3
*"I Am the One for You", released on Greatest Remix Hits 4: Recorded originally for the Rhythm of Love album.
*"Can't Forget You (Vocal Demo)": Mike Stock claims to have an old DAT recording of Kylie singing Sonia's 1989 hit single. However, later Stock stated that he didn't have this DAT and it remains unsure as to whether or not this exists.
*"Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi (Original Version)": PWL originally produced a more 'radio-friendly' version of this track in April 1988, when they were very first considering it for single release, but for reasons unknown it was never used. It has a cleaner intro, and is described as being slightly faster with a stronger beat and "dramatic eighties chords". Part of the refrain between verse and chorus is also supposed to be sung slightly differently, and there are very few backing vocals on this track.
*What Do I Have to Do? (Original Version), leaked into the internet: Following the release of Better the Devil You Know in UK, Pete Waterman played this original version on his radio show stating it would be the follow-up single. This version is radically to any released versions, is very synth oriented, and has a slightly different bass line, completely different drum track, and has multi-layered vocals.
*"One Love at a Time" (written by Kylie Minogue, Mike Stock and Pete Waterman): This song seem to be an early version of "If You Were with Me Now", before Keith Washington had lyrical input to it. Kylie's vocal was sent to New York and Keith recorded his part separately.
Kylie Minogue (1993-1994)
After signing with Deconstruction Records, Kylie began work on her new album. She first worked with The Rapino Brothers (Charlie Mallozzi & Marco Sabiu) in June 1993. As a group they wrote and recorded enough material for an album, but the material was said to be heading in the wrong direction, and most of it was shelved and never released.
During this period Kylie also recorded other tracks for her album with various writers and producer, many were never released.
The Rapino Brothers sessions (all songs written by Charlie Mallozzi/Marco Sabiu/Kylie Minogue):
*Aston Martin (3:30) (Kylie Minogue/Keith Allen/Charlie Mallozzi/Marco Sabiu), leaked into the internet

*For All I'm Worth (4:50), leaked into the internet

*Gotta Move On (3:37), released on '
*Difficult by Design (3:44), released on '
*Love Is on the Line: Kylie gave the song to the Polish singer Edyta Górniak who released it as a single, although the track strangely doesn't seem to appear on any of her albums.
*Our Lovin' (the Light That I Was Looking For): Was given to Czech singer Dara Rolins to record.
*Living for Your Lovin' (and I'm Feeling Fine): Was going to be included in the second single CD of Where Is the Feeling? but was dropped out since the released was cancelled.
*Automatic Love (Original Version) (Charlie Mallozzi/Marco Sabiu/Kylie Minogue/Inga Humpe): This version has not been released. The song was later re-recorded with Brothers in Rhythm, and appeared on her album Kylie Minogue. The original version can be heard over the closing credits of the Pratibha Parmar directed short film Wavelengths (1997)

Saint Etienne sessions:
*When Are You Coming Home? (Bob Stanley/Pete Wiggs): It was considered "too pure pop" for the album by her record label and was not released. Was going to be included in ' but it didn't make it to the last cut.
Other sessions:
*Baby Doll (Kylie Minogue/Prince): This the only confirmed song written by Kylie with Prince. Kylie wrote the lyrics and handed them to Prince who recorded a backing track and later laid down some vocals.

For this album Kylie went into songwriting overdrive, writing and demoing over 30 songs.
Initial work saw her back with Brothers in Rhythm, 6 tracks made the final cut, plus:
*Let It Go (Kylie Minogue/Steve Anderson): It was the first track she recorded as a demo for the album.
*Take Me with You & Stay This Way, released on '

A remix of a song called All Right Now, credited to Impossible Princess, appeared in summer 2009. Which turned out to be a fanmade remix using a line from Let's Get to It repeated over a cheap techno backing track.
*Soon (Kylie Minogue/Nick Cave): Cave wrote the music around lyrics that were given to him by Kylie. The track was recorded, but never used.
*Sometime Samurai (Original Demo) (Kylie Minogue/Towa Tei): Kylie wrote the original demo during the summer 1996. It was later re-worked in 2004 and included on Towa Tei Japanese album Flash and released as a single in his native Japan.

Body Language (2002-2003)
Prior to the released of Body Language, a fake tracklist was released on the internet under the name of City Games. Following a denial from the record company that ANY of the tracks even exist, one has been released on the album (Slow), another one has been released on the Japanese version of the album (You Make Me Feel), and City Games has become the B-Side to single Chocolate.
*I'll Be Your Oh-Oh (Kylie Minogue/Pascal Gabriel/Paul Statham): Kylie only recorded an acoustic version of this song. It was abandoned and not even presented to Parlophone.

A variety of mixes then appeared online via file sharing sites and Myspace. The original demo leaked online in April 2010.
