Fernando Cutz

Fernando Cutz is an American senior associate at The Cohen Group, founder of the Diversity Affairs Council, and co-founder of the Washington University FUSED.
Life and career
Cutz had obtained his Bachelor’s degree in international relations and political science from the Washington University in St. Louis.
His first post was under President Barack Obama as a Presidential Management Fellow at the United States Agency for International Development after which he became Communications Analyst and Special Assistant to the Administrator for National Security Affairs. He was later promoted to the National Security Council Staff in the Office of Global Engagement and then served as Special Advisor for President Obama’s trip to Cuba. During Obama administration he had served as Special Advisor in Bogotá, Colombia and was an advisor to the USAID on the Colombian peace process between citizens and FARC members and in Georgetown, Guyana where he was the USAID's principal officer.<ref name=uacsps/>
When Obama administration became Trump administration, he worked as National Security Advisor to a lieutenant general H. R. McMaster and as Deputy National Security Advisor to the major general Rick Waddell. Later on, Cutz was promoted to first as Director, and served as such in South America, and then as Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs.<ref name=uacsps/>
In 2018, Cutz became a ,<ref name=gi/> and a speaker at both the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and at the United States Military Academy. Currently he works for The Cohen Group, under former Senator and Secretary of Defense William Cohen<ref nameuacsps/> and as at the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement.<ref namegi/>
