David Helfenbein

David Helfenbein worked for Hillary Clinton for over ten years in differing capacities. The The New York Times ran a profile regarding Helfenbein's work for Secretary Clinton. He also volunteered for former President William Jefferson Clinton for several years, mostly aiding with advance work for events.
Until the summer of 2010, Helfenbein coordinated new media for Secretary Clinton as a member of her Strategic Communications Team in the Bureau of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of State in the Obama Administration. Previously, he briefly served in a youth outreach position and as a Special Assistant to the Secretary in the Office of the White House Liaison. In Clinton's Senate Office, Helfenbein served as a Legislative Correspondent, assisting in the appropriations and grants process. He also worked on transportation issues, after having served as a fellow and an intern in several of Senator Clinton's offices.
Previously, David interned at the Democratic National Convention, The Brookings Institution, and served as Senator Clinton's first United States Senate Page in 2003. He received a B.A. in political science and Communication and Public Service from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008. While at Penn, David co-directed the Robert A. Fox Leadership Program and upon graduation he was awarded The Cane Senior Honor Award.
His undergraduate thesis at Penn examined political polarization in the United States with a focus on the presidency of William Jefferson Clinton, and is a published copyrighted work.
David is founder and editor of TheBeanPredicts, a political prognostication webpage that includes The Bean Blog, and also writes as a blogger for The Huffington Post; he is currently attending Washington University School of Law, pursuing a Juris Doctor degree.
