Far From Here is a band formed in 2002, and is based in Wallingford, CT. Their music is a blend of genres, described as progressive/rock. Far From Here has played many well-known venues in the Connecticut area, such as Toad's Place in New Haven and The Webster Theatre in Hartford, and has been the opening act for such notable acts as Seven Mary Three, The Marshall Tucker Band, Blue Öyster Cult, and Steadman. They also enjoy regular airplay on ultraradio.com, WESU-FM Wesleyan University Radio, and WPLR-FM, 99.1 New Haven. The band consists of five members; Tommy Dow on vocals, Jeffrey Piscitelli and Daniel O'Keefe on guitar, Robert Pallman on bass, and John "Jay" More on drums. Released in 2003, the band's eponymous debut CD comprising 9 original songs was well received by industry experts. They were named the "Best Band In Connecticut" by the Emergenza North American music festival in 2007. The band wrote and perform the theme song for the web-based sitcom "Without You". Far From Here recently added new singer/songwriter Tommy Dow to the line up in 2009. The band spent much of 2010 writing new material and performing live around Connecticut. The band's name was derived from the song "Far From Here", off their first album. The song's lyrics were written by guitarist Jeff Piscitelli, and originally had been performed by the members' previous band, Mood Groove. The second track on their first album, "Before and Again" has lyrics written by drummer Jay More, with additional lyrics by Johns. The lyrics for the song, "Something Amazing" were written by Johns after bassist Robert Pallman told him the story of the day his daughter Megan was born. The photos on their debut album were taken by Charles Maring.
