Family Room HD

Family Room HD was an American family-themed network that broadcast exclusively in high definition. Programming included movies like March of the Wooden Soldiers and the Muppets Take Manhattan, series like Flipper and Thunderbirds, and specials that appeal to kids and adults alike. Broadcasting And Cable reported that "Family Room HD will split a 3,000 title film library shared with other VOOM HD Networks like Kung Fu HD, Vice HD, Guy TV, Gunslingers HD, The Majestic HD and Film Fest HD which were created in 2004 to provide easier navigation for subscribers." In an article for TV Week, Family Room HD's Vice President of Programming, Keith O'Connell spoke of the acquisition of the tween show RenegadePress.com and the animal life series Animal Atlas, "As we grow our library of quality high definition content ... we are thrilled to offer our viewers more programs that are engaging and entertaining kids of all ages. Family Room is one of the only family and kids true HD channels available 24/7 and commercial free. Through the power of HD, we will allow these series to take on astonishing new depth and detail." Family Room was one of the Voom HD Networks, a division of Rainbow Media.
The channel ceased operations on January 20, 2009.
