Ethan Burger

Ethan S. Burger () is an Adjunct Professor at the Georgetown University Law Center and a Scholar in Residence at American University’s School of International Service.

His principal academic areas of interest are (i) international economic crime and corruption, (ii) comparative corporate governance, and (iii) legal malpractice and professional responsibility.

He follows closely legal and political developments in the successor states of the former Soviet Union. Many of his academic works discuss one of the consequences of globalization: that while criminal and business activity are transnational in character, law enforcement and regulatory structures remain organized primarily on a national basis. At present, there are numerous political, structural and technical factors that makes international cooperation difficult if not impossible to overcome.

He is noted for having received the Best Ethics Paper Award from the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.
