Eric Rosen (chess player)

Eric Rosen (born September 3, 1993) is an American International Master (IM) in chess. He gained worldwide reputation as a producer of instructional web videos and online chess commentary on YouTube and Twitch. Life Rosen grew up in Skokie, a suburb of Chicago. He was professionally trained early, by including Tamara Golovey, Dmitry Gurevich, Yury Shulman and Mesgen Amanov. In 2007, he first reached a national rating over 2000 points and has won the 2009 US Junior Open in Milwaukee. In the same year he became National Master of the USCF. and achieved at the U18 World Championship in Caldas Novas the first IM norm. The second IM norm fulfilled Rosen 2013 at the "North American Masters" in Skokie. In 2015, he secured the third IM norm at the "Philadelphia Open" with a 1st place in the category of U2400 players. Shortly thereafter, he accomplished at the "Chicago Open", a fourth IM norm, In the United States Chess League, Rosen played from 2009 to 2011 for Chicago Blaze. In 2015-2017 Rosen attended Webster University (Missouri), graduating with a bachelor's degree in Interactive Digital Media. There he also played for the top-class and internationally successful university SPICE team ("Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence"). After graduating, he began to work as a freelancer, including as a chess teacher, chess photographer and Webvideo producer. Rosen lives today (2019) in St. Louis.
