Equator Pure Nature is a Thai clean-tech company based in Bangkok, Thailand. The company produces, markets, and sells natural, healthy, hypoallergenic, non-irritation certified household and personal care products such as laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, floor cleaner, liquid soap, bathroom cleaner, fabric softener, stain remover and bottle and nipple cleaner under the brand name Pipper Standard®. All products are made from the company's globally patented pineapple fermentation technology. History Company co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Peter Wainman suffered terrible allergic reactions following the use of chemical-based laundry care products in 2010, and this experience led him to invent a natural and healthy range of household cleaning products under the Pipper Standard brand. At the time, high-quality natural cleaning products were not easily available in the market so Wainman, who has an investing and research and development background from MIT, set out to create his own such products that would promote a better quality of life and a healthier environment. Equator Pure Nature Co Ltd (EPN) was founded in March 2012. After more than two years of R&D using fruit fermentation as a natural ingredient, Pipper Standard was officially introduced to the Thai market in late 2014. Pipper Standard began with funding from Wainman’s business partners and long-time friends. They saw his passion and determination to develop healthy and eco-friendly products after conducting thousands of experiments to get the right combination of fruit-based and natural ingredients. The brand displays certifications to bio-degrade, for non-irritation and indicates free of known allergens. It also prioritizes sustainability and environmental protections. thumb Pipper Standard has a globally patented pineapple fermentation technology. The fermentation of pineapples are done at its own facilities in accordance with strict quality assurance. The fermented fruit fluids are then sent to a certified manufacturing plant to be combined with other natural ingredients. Fermentation process Pineapples are fermented with water, sugar and Lactobacillus (a probiotic bacteria) to form the natural base which subsequently converts carbohydrates into acids, resulting in pineapple fluids with a higher percentage of acid and bromelain. The natural acids and proteolytic enzyme from bromelain is then combined with other natural ingredients to create an effective cleaning agent to remove dirt and stains. The fermentation process puts pineapples and their rinds, as well as water, sugar and Lactobacillus bacteria, probiotic bacteria usually found in yogurt, in air-tight containers. This Lacto-fermentation process is said to be the core of the company’s patented fermentation technology. Byproducts from the fermentation process, including the filtered skin and crusts of pineapples, become animal feed, helping to reduce animal intake of antibiotics. Waste water from the process is treated and used to help nurture agricultural farms. Research and Development Equator Pure Nature conducts its product research and development (R&D) in its in-house laboratory, which employs multiple chemists and microbiologists to test and check for microorganism contamination (such as yeast, mold and certain bacteria), undesired residues (such as pesticides) and by-products (methanol). The quality control procedures cover manufacturing, packaging processes and distribution of goods based on requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, OHSAS 18001, and GMP Thailand Trust Mark, Interteck: Think Green Initiative and Green Industry. Sales and Distribution Channels In Thailand and other markets, Pipper Standard products are sold and distributed mainly through supermarkets, pharmacies, baby stores, home improvement stores, leading online marketplaces and on various Pipper Standard and affiliated websites. Outside of Thailand, Pipper Standard products are sold in major Asian markets, including China (mainland), Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. The company is currently in the process of expanding into other markets where eco-friendly products are in high demand. According to Digitsnmarkets.com, the global market for green cleaning products is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.8 per cent through 2025. A major factor contributing to this growth is the next-generation consumers’ increased awareness of health and environment issues, as well as rising threats from viral and bacterial infections. Patents and trademarks Equator Pure Nature launched a global patent initiative covering its research and development work, with four global patent applications and 264 inventor claims. Patents for the pineapple fermentation process were granted in multiple markets, including the United States, Europe and China. Overall, the patents cover markets that comprise approximately 70% of the world’s GDP. Leading the inventions on all products are co-founders Wainman and Sirilak. Certifications The brand's hypoallergenic and/or non-irritation certification was issued by Dermscan Asia. Its biodegradable ingredients are certified by the Thailand Textile Institute.
