Kimball Mark Cariou is a Canadian columnist and politician who has been the leader of the Communist Party of British Columbia since December 2020. He was previously the long-time editor of , the official newspaper of the Communist Party of Canada. He has also written for The Georgia Straight. Biography Cariou was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to working class parents of European and Métis heritage. He joined the Communist Party of Canada in 1972 while studying at the University of Alberta, amidst growing opposition to the Vietnam War. After completing his studies, he returned to Saskatchewan and served as the Communist Party of Canada's provincial leader for some time during the 1980s.
