Emeka Onyenekwu (born March 10, 1990) is a former American football defensive end. He was a member of the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. He played college football at Louisiana Lafayette. Early years Onyenekwu was displaced from New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina and attended McKinley High School, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after originally attending Eleanor McMain Secondary School. He played both sides of the ball at tight end and defensive end. He finished his senior year with 44 tackles, 12.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and 2 fumble recoveries. Onyenekwu also played in Red Stick All-Star game. College career Emeka attended the University of Louisiana, where he played for the UL-L Ragin Cajuns, as an elite pass rusher. As a senior in 2012 for the University of Louisiana, led the defensive line in the state of Louisiana in tackles and tackles for loss, 1st-Team All Sun Belt Conference, 1st-Team All-LSWA Louisiana. Participated in the elite Texas vs. the Nation All Star Game. Finished his career with 69 tackles, 11 sacks, 23 for loss, 3 forced fumbles, and a 1 interception returned for 11 yards. In 2012, 6.5 sacks. Player of the Week Honors vs #7 ranked Florida Gators, finished game with a whopping 9 tackles, and 2.5 qb sacks. Professional career On April 27, 2013, he signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent following the 2013 NFL Draft. Miami released him on August 27, prior to the start of the regular season.
