Edward Ikin

Edward James Ikin (born December 5th, 1992) is a Faroese footballer. Edward was born in the idyllic village of Gjógv, on the second largest of the Faroe Islands, Eysturoy, but shortly after his birth, he moved to Northampton in mainland Britain. It was from here that he started off his career in television, film, and music, before being discovered by the MK Dons as a budding young talent.
Early Media Career
Edward showed an early interest in amateur dramatics, appearing several times at the Royal and Derngate theatres, most notably for his role in Joseph and his technicolour dreamcoat. Edward made his first breakthrough in television, making an appearance in Grange Hill, following a notable amount of 'extras' appearances in shows such as The Bill, Casualty and Doctors.
Edward's short lived film career began in 2001, where he appeared as a background student in Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, returning to this role in 2002, in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. However, Edwards first speaking film role came when he was cast as Sylvin Boulanger, a French boy in the 2003 Box Office failure . Following this breakthrough Edward went on to be cast in Shaunville, as one of the big names for the production, playing the role of the human turned zombie "Eddie"
After his dabble into the world of film Edward turned to the world of music. Son of the famous musician Stewart Ikin, who has played with Crème Brulee, Evil Gazebo, and most notably for his backing tambourine role for , Edward was set up with the connections he needed to make it as a musician. He began his musical career playing Bass for his fellow countryman Høgni Reistrup, but had left before Høgni had released his first album in 2007. Following a few guest appearances in bands such as Boys in a Band and The Dreams, both of which are also Faroese, Ikin never managed to make the break through to the big times in England, being pipped at auditions for the Bass guitar possition to both Art Brut by 'Freddy Feedback', and then again by Bob Wriggles for The Lancashire Hotpots. On the verge of pulling out of his music career, and returning to his moderately successful film career, Edward had only one unforeseen guest appearance left when due to an accident involving one of the band members of a warm up act, that was performing before Counting Crows at the o2 arena. Ikin, who was at the concert to support his friends from The Hold Steady filled in for the Bass Player, and later returned to the stage with Counting Crows to play the backing bass part of Murder of One.
Footballing Career
It was during a charity match at Sixfields stadium for a "England vs the rest of the world" game, that Ikin was spotted by the talent scouts of Northampton Town F.C., however it was the MK Dons that managed to obtain the services of the young attacking midfielder.
Ikin played his first professional season for the MK Dons, although he didn't make a first team appearance. This however was largely due to the success of the current squad, who were promoted during the season Ikin was with the club. Despite this, thanks to a number of inspiring performances for the reserve team Edward was called up to the Faroe Islands national under-21 football team where he was giving his first cap in the 08-09 season.
