EdibleRed (styled as edibleRed) is an alternative rock band from New York, New York. They formed in 1999 with Collette McLafferty (vocals), Tom Papadatos (drums), Robert Ruiz (bass), and Brian Zipin (guitar). edibleRed is currently signed with Select Records and is in the process of creating their fifth album. Many of their songs from previous albums have been featured on prominent TV programs and the band has received numerous favorable reviews. History After forming in New York City in 1999, edibleRed got their name at their first gig, where they asked their friends to write down suggestions for a band name. The original members were Collette McLafferty (vocals), Tom Papadatos (drums), Robert Ruiz (bass) and Brian Zipin (guitar). Within the first six months of the band forming, the band released their self-titled debut album EdibleRed, which subsequently received some attention when The Learning Channel did a half-hour special on the group on A Makeover Story. Ruiz and Zipin left the first lineup in 2000, but Papadatos and McLafferty kept the band, recording their second release The Red EP while playing with session players and rotating band members. The second lineup solidified with the help of cellist Dave Eggar, bassist Marty Osterer, and guitarist Sean McMechen. This new lineup then recorded The Beach House. In 2005, edibleRed was set to play their farewell show when they were approached by veteran indie record label Select Records president Fred Munao, who offered them a record deal. Their debut album, Welcome to My Bad Behavior, was released at the end of 2007. The first single, "Sugar and Spring," was featured on MTV Latino, KROCK2, Showtime's The L Word, Maxim Radio, ABC Radio, and Oxygen Network's "Good Girl's Don't." The band was also featured on FUSE TV's Tattoo Stories and IMX. In 2007, cellist Dave Eggar left the band to tour with Evanescence, and edibleRed became a core trio with rotating cellists and bass players, most notably cellist Pablo Cubarle and bassist Janko Valdez. In 2009, the band appeared on the Discovery Channel show Cash Cab where they won $750. Later that year, edibleRed signed with manager Richard Zack and The Wink Winks Artist Management, and the band is currently recording on their new album, tentatively titled Alternate Reality Girlfriend. edibleRed briefly disbanded during the making of "Alternate Reality Girlfriend." McLafferty is the remaining member and is currently working on a new album with Streetlab producer Mark COZ. In the summer of 2012, edibleRed released the video for the song "Paralyzed" directed by Vilan Trub. The music video was filmed in the Lower East Side section of NYC.
