Edge Fog

Edge Fog is caused by a light leak that fogs exposed film before processing. Edge fog lowers contrast and changes as the camera moves in relation to the light source. The effect is similar to a lens flare, but unlike lens flares, edge fog appears on the camera original outside the image area. Edge fog can be expected at the head and tail of spool wound film.
Causes
Causes of light leak are a loose magazine lid, a loose camera door, a bad magazine to camera fitting, a hole in the changing bag, not packing core wound film in the black bag, or inadvertently opening a can of unprocessed film.
