Drum biking

Drum biking, also referred to as "bike-drumming," "bicycle drumming," or "jam-biking," is the performing art of playing percussion instruments while riding a cycle-powered vehicle such as a bicycle or a tricycle. Drum biking is a phenomenon that has roots in various forms and in different cities all over the world.

Bucket Drum Biking
Drum-biking In Boston, MA refers to the tradition of bucket-drum biking, where a percussionist attaches bucket drums, often with other percussion instruments such as cymbals and to their handlebars and plays the bucket drums while riding his bicycle around the city on the street and bike-paths for the public to hear. Several cycling percussionists have played in Boston. The tradition was started in 2002 with professional musician Joey Chang, whose stage name is "Cello Joe" Joey Change moved to California, leaving his drum bicycle with Noah Plotkin, a percussionist who carried on the tradition in Boston. Galen Mook inherited the drum-bicycle in 2008, and started drumming around Boston invididually and for group rides like Critical Mass. In 2009, another cycling percussionist, "Greg Hum" , put together his own bucket drum bicycle and began drum-biking around Boston individually and with Galen Mook for group rides. Each drum-biker brings his own drumming and cycling style when performing.
Drum Kits on Bicycles
Some people mount full or partial drum kits on their bicycles that include drums with traditional rock or jazz shells.
