Definition: DRAINO in PIPES is a recently proposed descendant and variation of the Web 2.0 paradigm. Built around a rudimentary Ruby Mongrel server it is actually two combinations of technologies working together. DRAINO in PIPES is an acronym meaning: * * *Applications * * * in * *Imbedded * * * "Embedded" was intentionally misspelled for purposes of a better acronym. History: The idea behind DRAINO in PIPES came early in 2007 while a small research group was attempting to find a more manageable and scalable alternative to AJAX that would accommodate a distributed computing model while being built around common, well understood technologies.
