Les McMahon

J. L. McMahon, more commonly known as Les McMahon, is the General Manager of Wollondilly Shire Council, a large rural shire to the south west of the Sydney metropolitan area.


Achievements

McMahon has bought about many changes to the structure and performance of Wollondilly Shire Council, and is credited with implementing several key reforms.

Work History

Les commenced working for Wollondilly Shire Council in 1991, as the Shire Engineer. In 1994 he was promoted to the Director of Works .

In 1997 McMahon took a Position as General Manager of the Macarthur Waste Board and stayed in this position until 2001, when he briefly worked for a private engineering company.

In 2002 McMahon became the Director of Operations for the City of Botany Bay. He stayed in this role until January 2005, when he took on his current role as General Manager of Wollondilly Shire Council.

Les has also been a member of the Institute of Public Works
Engineering Australia (NSW Division) Board of Management and held several positions including Director and the chair of the environmental management panel .


Private Life

McMahon is a long time resident of Wollondilly Shire, having lived there for over 15 years.
