Dr. Sanjeev Naik

Dr. Sanjeev Naik was the first mayor of Navi Mumbai and is the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate from in Maharashtra state in the Indian general election, 2009.
Education
The title "Dr." used by Naik is an honorary one, which in April 2009 he claimed to have received for "social commitment", and not as an educational qualification.
Political career
In 2006, Naik attended the launch of the controversial Hitler's Cross restaurant, a Hitler-themed restaurant at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai. The restaurant featured a huge poster of Adolf Hitler at its inauguration, and the entrance also displayed the swastika encircled by the letter 'O' in the word "Cross". .
Naik ran for the Thane Lok Sabha constituency in the 2008 by-election, but was beaten by the Shiv Sena party candidate Anand Parajpe by 90,872 votes
In April 2009, Naik's central campaign office was visited by the police, who were there prevented from arresting a suspect for whom there had been an outstanding arrest warrant for four months. The suspect, fellow NCP party member Ram Ashish Ram Bali Yadav, was prevented by staff from being arrested and the police were accused by the staff of trespass and left, though Yadav later surrendered to police that evening.
