Downloader for X

Downloader For X (or simply D4X) is a download manager/accelerator for Unix-like systems.
Licensing
Although the source distribution includes a copy of the Artistic License, leading some to think that it is open source, the source files in the "main" directory contain this copyright notice:
/* WebDownloader for X-Window
* Copyright (C) 1999-2002 Koshelev Maxim
* This Program is free but not GPL!!! You can't modify it
* without agreement with author. You can't distribute modified
* program but you can distribute unmodified program.
*
* This program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful,
* but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of
* MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
*/
This makes it neither Open Source (as defined by the Open Source Initiative), Free Software (as defined by the Free Software Foundation), nor acceptable under the Debian Free Software Guidelines. The prohibition on making modifications is reiterated in the FAQ and README files in the "DOC" directory.
The code in the "intl" directory is largely owned by the Free Software Foundation, and distributed under GPL, which is not compatible with the copyright on the files in the "main" directory. Because of this, it is doubtful that it is legal to distribute or use this program at all.
It can pause and restart downloads at any time, and utilises both the HTTP and FTP protocols. It can limit download speeds to free bandwidth for other uses. It also supports SOCKS5 and proxy authentication.
The project has been unmaintained for a long time and is now actively maintained by Arnaud Granal.
