A Double Double is a colloquial term in Canada that describes a coffee (typically Tim Hortons) with twice the cream and sugar of a regular coffee. A proper double double is expected to taste the same regardless of whether it is a very small or very large size cup, and therefore Tim Hortons uses machines to ensure the correct amount is dispensed relative to the coffee size. This term is common across most of English-speaking Canada, so much so that Canadians will often use the expression even when travelling outside Canada. When ordering a coffee prepared in this manner, it is not required to specify that it is a coffee that is wanted. The term "I'd like a large double double", or "small decaf double double" will produce the desired beverage.
