Dot.AY

Dot.AY is the recording and performing name of Alex Yabsley. He specialises in new and experimental forms of electronic music performance and composition. He has released 2 full length albums all under the genre of Chip tune. He tours Australia playing in various Chip tune related events and has been a guest on the ABC 2 show Good Game. Before being know as Dot.AY, Alex Yabsley was know under the name of Protestah and collaborated with Evan Kitchener in their high school years. The music they produced was under the name of Fiber Optic Cable, FOC for short.
Career
In 2007 he completed a Bachelor of Music Technology with Honours at the Queensland Conservatorium. The dissertation completed for his Honours year was entitled “The Sound of Playing: A study into the Music and Culture of Chiptunes”. Since this time he has dedicated his creative career to the performance, promotion and development of Chip Music. He has played extensively around Brisbane as well as in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and played the afterparty of the Blip Festival in Tokyo.
He conducts workshops, performs at showcases and artist presentations at Sound Summit and Electrofringe. Beyond the world of chipmusic Alex has worked as a DJ, Sound Designer, Sonic Artist and Installation artists. He is also the event promoter for Monthly Brisbane chipmusic night Pocket Music.
